I put this question to the Tennessee in the Civil War Message Board, but had no luck there. On pages 321-326, 350, 367, 368, 371-372 of Thrilling Adventures of Daniel Ellis, Ellis describes a Capt. B. H. Duvall. Ellis said he was from Louisville, KY, and led a force into Carter and Johnson Counties in December, 1864. He is also mentioned on pages 324, 326, and 335 of Scott and Angel's History of the 13th Regiment Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry, U.S.A. Scott and Angel state that he "had charge of the military force at Elizabethton" in August 1863. Both accounts, as you might guess, depict him as rather the ruthless scoundrel, persecuting Union civilians. Has anyone ever come across additional information pertaining to Capt. Duvall?
