Amos Davis, step brother to Elizabeth C Campbell signed the marriage bond for James Monroe Davis and Elizabeth C Campbell on 25 Oct 1880. David Bell, M. G. (minister of Gospel???) performed the ceremony on 26 Oct 1880. The Bell's were neighbors of the Albert E Campbell family. Albert, b 1834 NC m. 9 Nov 1852 to Elizabeth Fry b abt 1825 NC and Elizabeth C Campbell was their daughter.) Later a William Davis m. Elizabeth Fry Campbell....both were by then widowed and brought children to the marriage but apparently no children were born of this second marriage. Children of James Monroe Davis and Elizabeth C Campbell were: D. W. Davis, b Jan1882 m. Maud Buchanan b Dec 1888. George Washington Davis, b 1885 Jackson E Davis, 1891 James N Davis, b 1887 General Davis, b 1896 Walter Davis, b 1899 John Davis, b Arch B.
