Jan 29, 2005 Hello, I am writing a book about my 4th GGF, Captain Thomas Gourley who lived in Carter Co., TN., about 1785-1796. He was appointed Clerk pro tem on Aug 7, 1787 when Tipton resigned from the court. He was one of the guards appointed to take John Sevier to Morganton in Feb, 1788.
