I do know Benjamin Church had sons Timothy Church who was from Habersham co Ga and Gabriel Church who lived in the Atlanta Ga area. Maybe they were descended from one of them. Ross

I get the Avery County newspaper and in January 2005 I had clipped a full page article with color photographs on TB/Lucy. Researchers had found the old cemetery with TB and Lucy Campbells tombstone...there's a full article with their research findings also beautiful color photo of TB and Lucy's tombstone. Dorothy and Ben if you are interested in a copy please post or email and I'll send a copy.
Hi G. Lee, Its been a while since we communicated. I did make the connection that the Campbells were in Carter Co. then moved back to NC. I have a large Word file thru census records that takes the Campbells from NC to TN and back to NC. It also contains other relatives on the Campbell side that you probably not be interested in. Would you like a copy? L.G. Sheets Buladean ----- Original Message ----- From: "G. Hello, I have read some of the Emails concerning the Bowers family. Today I received and viewed a LDS film #984339 the First Baptist Church of Elizabeth, Tn. 1842-1860, Aug. 29, 1881-Dec. 1904. Lo and behold there is Valentine Bowers name again. The minutes of the Eliz. Baptist Church which was organized June 21, 1842 with 31 members. "Elders Riese Baylis, Valentine Bowers, William Cate (hard to read) and James Edens composed the Presbytery." Many of the familar Carter co names are listed: Leonard Hart and Phoebe Hart, M.R. Lyon, Elizabeth Casady,A. Tipton, Elijah Hardin, Thomas Johnson, George Emmert, Henry Nave, John Bayless, Thomas C. Ensor and Thomas P. Ensor of Sinking Creek, J. H. Hyder, S. J. Carriger, Charles H. Hyder, Samuel P. Hyder, Jessie and Emma Crow, L. F. Hyder J. J. Cole. Later on page 47 of the church minutes was listed I. N. Bowers who subscribed to give .08 and 1/3 cents to pastoral support. According to a mention in the minutes Carter co. had a severe flood May 21, 1901. It stated that about 60 houses were washed away or wrecked with about 1000 people homeless. "Mrs Eva Jenkins property was flooded to depths of several feet." There is also an obituary for Elizabeth Hyder who was the wife of Rev. J. H. Hyder. She was born Feb. 20, 1824 and died March 19, 1897 at age 73 yrs. and 27 days. She was the mother of 14 children, six of whom were still living. She joined the church the year it was organized. Sister Barbara Bowers was received by letter from Watuaga Church. John Grindstaff and wife, Elizabeth joined by letter Sunday March 11, 1849. I was checking the filim for any of my BISHOP family. William Bishop's family or David Bishop's but no luck. Hope this helps someone. Jeanette Bishop Hutton

We are now working on a revised edition which we hope to publish this fall or winter. We are adding new information, new photos and making corrections. Meanwhile, check with your library to see if they have the book or if they can locate one for you. Some of the libraries bought copies. I don't know where you live so I can't refer you to a likely library close to you. Robert

Suggest you check with your library to see if they have the book or if they can locate a copy for you on interlibrary loan. Title of the book: Charles and Cynthia, published in l995. Mrs Jackson's address is 2203 West Norwich, Fresno, CA 93705. Phone 209-226-0878. I am not sure if this address and phone number is current. She may still have some books for sale.
