I've bought 3 in fact, one for me, my brother, and for my father. I found them surfing out-of-print book shops on the web. The most helpful was abebooks.com. The Title is "History of the Thirteenth Regiment Tennessee Voluntary Cavalry" by Samuel Scott adn Samuel Angel. I originally got it because many of my anscestors fought in this group but found it facinating as well as horrifying that such brutality could take place in such a beautiful area. The original copyright was 1903 but was re-printed in 1987. I hope you are able to find it. It is quite amazing. Sandi Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. She was born abt. 1826 He then married Mary Ann Smith on 11/11/1853. She was born about 1837. All the above happened in Carter County, Tennesse. Elcana & Manda had David Richardson & Samuel Richardson. Elcana & Mary Smith had Andrew, Eliza, Caroline, Isaac, Callie, And Elcana (I guess Jr.)Elcana's son, Andrew, married Carrie Smith who had James a., Joe, Mary Eliza, Willie, Robert, Johnie, and Geneva is listed as a stepchild. I'm working on settling this out. Elcana is suppose to be the son of Thomas Richardson b.1/11/1819 in Carter County. His mother is suppose to be Elizabeth Forbes b.about 1823 in North Carolina. I believe his grandparents are John Richardson & Hannah Hurley from Great Britian. Well, I heard all my life as I was growing up that the Richardson's had a lot of Indian blood in them. My grandmother, Ollie Combs White, looked very Indian in her features. I researched the Indians in North Carolina were some Richardsons were to come from and found a very large number of Richardsons in the Haliwa-Saponi tribe. They may even be Melugeons (good to Google.)Please contact me if you have any questions as I know the Richardsons are a very difficult family to get any info on. Hello: My Franklin's are from Surry Co., NC however in what little Franklin info I've seen for the Watauga County Franklins I believe they are probably from Surry as well. I have some Franklin info but it's packed up anticipating a move. If I don't get back with you in a few weeks, holler back at me and I'll see what I can find. Kilburns old cabin is cited in some early land records in Carter county as being located on the Laurel Fork of the Holston which seems to be located in what is now Johnson County which was formed from Carter County in l836. Carter County was formed out of Washington County in l796 and a Henry Kilburn is cited in some old land records there. I don't know if Elijah Kilburn was the person who had the cabin in Carter County but he did not own the land. Hello List, I am new to this list. I am seeking info about a Elijah KILBOURN who appears to have been living briefly in Carter Co, TN in 1825. He was born in Connecticut in 1759, married in Washington Co., VA in 1787 but lived in Ashe Co., NC from 1807 to 1820. An Ashe Co., NC Land Deed of 1825 lists him as, Elijah Kilbourn of Carter Co., TN. I do not find him on the 1830 Carter County census (he would have been 71 yrs old). Does anyone have access to Carter County Deeds for the period 1820-1830 to see if he purchased any property? Were there any tax lists for Carter County between 1820 and 1830? Thanks much! David
