Do you mean that Joshua OAKS married Elizabeth VANDERPOOL in 1765 in Wilkes County, NC? [actually Wilkes County, was not created until 1777, so not sure where the locality mentioned really was]. If, so then Elizabeth would have been born probably in the 1740s. OR do you mean that Elizabeth was born in 1765? I might be able to help if Elizabeth's birth year can be more accurately determined and the locality in which she was born or married is known. We have a number of Elizabeth Vanderpools who might be this lady. Myra Vanderpool Gormley Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. In Scott and Angel's book about the 13th regiment my ancestor, W. M. Bishop attest to the capture of Gen. Morgan at Greenville and this was recorded in the Clerk and Master office and is there in the book. They wouldn't permit me to go look for this and said they couldn't find it. I know of no other county that keeps records from the PUBLIC. I have a great repect for the archival records but I believe this woman wants to hold on and publish a lot of information herself. It will take legal action, I'm afraid to remedy this situation. If anyone in this area can at least show these emails to a judge they may have pull with perhaps, things will improve. I was up there this summer and found a lot of recent graves in Happy Valley Cem. between Eliz. and Johnson City. There are bunches of cemeteries as you head up Stony Creek. Some are hard to find because they are off the highway. I found Whites mixed with other relatives in the family (i.e. Buckles, Combs, Grindstaff.) It would prob. be best to check at the city hall when you arrive and even then, it's questionable they'll know where it is.
