Boy am I glad to hear this. "From Census Record-Marions parents were born in North Carolina- " 1930 Census has his name as Marias D Briggs with a birth date of 1876 in NC and no addresses for his parents. 1920 Census has his name as Marian B Briggs Born abt 1877 and Parents Birth-NC 1910 Census has his name as M. Boiley Briggs with a birth abt 1888 in Tenn and Parents birth in Tenn. I know this is Marion Briggs because his wife is Della (They spelled-Dlla) and Ethel and Bertha are his children. "Dellas were born in Tennessee" 1930 Census has her name as Dillie Briggs instead of Della, which is correct. It shows her birth abt 1882 and no state is identified. 1920 Census shows her birth abt. 1887 in Tenn and Parents-Father in Tenn and Mother in NC. 1910 census shows her birth abt. 1888 in Tenn and both parents birth in Tenn. I believe the 1900 Census shows her under her maiden name of Della Wilson, birth 1887 with her 1900 home as Civil District 8, Scott, Tenn. I am trying to absolutely confirm this is her. "WWI draft card and noticed that there was another Briggs living in the same WV district" You may be right-I cannot confirm if he had any brothers or sisters. "Consider me in the future for record lookups and research help for the East Tennessee area" No problem-I am constantly searching for others and myself in WVA, Tenn and NC and I can refer them to you. Thanks for your help and time. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Have you checked for a delayed birth certificate for Ethel? A quick look at census records show that Marions parents were born in North Carolina and I believe dellas were born in Tennessee. (sorry, didnt take notes when I had the records up) I saw marions WWI draft card and noticed that there was another Briggs living in the same WV district as Marion could this be a brother? It is the registration before marions. I have access to extensive Tennessee and North Carolina resources. I don't ask for reimbursement if I find the record (though tips via paypal are always welcome). I merely ask that you consider me in the future for record lookups and research help for the East Tennessee area for which I charge $12/hr and only charge for hours that I actually find information. I will contact you Sunday with news of whether I find a marriage record or not. -Michael Can you help me in finding a Marriage record for my Grandparents, He is Marion Boyd Briggs (b. abt. 1876-1878) and Della Wilson (b. abt 1882-1887). Their first child Ethel V. Briggs was born 1905 in carter, Tennessee therefore I believe they were Married in Tennessee. I am trying to identify their parents. The Archives of Appalachia in the East Tennessee State University Library has a complete set of the Watauga Spinnerette. The Archives also has some records for NARC and Bemberg. Hello I would like to respond to your question about the Hyleah Sheffield/John L. Stout, but I'm having problems with my Daniel Stout file in FTM. I'm hoping to resolve it soon. I know there was a John L. STOUT who married Hiley DOUGLASS [this name from marriage record] at Carter Co. TN.... the security was Daniel Stout. This John L. STOUT was born between 1810-1812 and his wife Highly/Hiley born abt 1816. They were listed in the Johnson Co. TN census in 1850 and the Union Co. TN census in 1860. I believe I found them again after my old book was published and I'll post it if I ever get my problem solved! I know I did not find the parents of Hiley Douglass.. so perhaps she had been married before which could explain the difference in the chart you found. The children of John L. Stout [my #1-3-2-9] and wife Hiley Douglass were: 1. JULIA ANN STOUT m. ca 1837 TN m. 18 May 1856 John MOORE 2. CLARA L. STOUT b. 10 Sep 1843 TN d. 13 Mar 1915 Carter Co. TN m. Johnson Co. TN 25 Jul 1861 Elkanah William SHUFFIELD. 3. RHODA LOUISE STOUT b. ca 1847 TN (twin) m. Carter co. TN 7 Dec 1864 to James L. WHITE 4 MELVINA STOUT (twin) b. ca 1847 5. WILLIAM A. STOUT b. ca 1849 Johnson Co. TN m. Campbell Co. TN 24 Dec 1874 to Mary Love PETREE who m 2nd H. Rice SNODERLY. 6. SARAH E. STOUT b. ca 1856 TN; believe this was SARAH EDNA STOUT who was single 1900 census with daughter Jennie STOUT .... daughter Jennie [a daughter of Sam HODGE] died age 48 on 2 Sep 1930 JCT. There are a lot of trees showing this couple and children living in Carter Co. TN. Robert and Mary first appear in Carter Co. on the 1860 census with the following children: Guilford, George, Whitley, Taylor, Eldridge, and an unnamed infant. What I don't understand is why none of these trees show that Robert and family were living in Washington Co., VA in 1850. Can we have some discussion on why there's isn't a connection? Thanks. I was just wanting a bit more specific information. The names I am researching who lived in that area are starting with Culbert & Griffiths (they pronounced as Griffey)... both may have several different spellings. They were also tied into the Buckles families. I would like to have a better idea as to where the area may have been. I know that later generations (as my grandmother) have said they lived "near the foot of Holston Mtn" & were over near the Keenburg side.
