They are last seen in Civil District 5 of Carter County in the 1880 census. He was then 70 and she was 60. I assume they died before 1895. Also do you have a David or William Hambrick or Hamrick? I just returned fro Elizabethton and could not find much there on the cemeteries of Carter County. Will your records be published? If so I would like to purchase a copy for the library there in Elizabethton. Thanks for your assistance. brackettwilliam@yahoo.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. When they sat for this picture, which was most probably at Rogersville, TN, he was on the left and she was on the right. Taylor and wife Sarah. This has been in my family for many, many years as their daughter Amanda was my great-grandmother. This photo had to have been taken not long before he went into the Union Army. It's in amazing condition considering it's age. It originally had been in some sort of oval frame which is why the upper corners are cut. You can still see where the mat was. I hope you like it. 1. [TNCARTER] obituary lookup request: Earl Whitehead, died Oct 1967 (SSDI)
    2. Another one is for Hattie Whitehead, died January 1978 Roan, Carter Co, according to SSDI. I have two other Hattie Whiteheads, but they died in Johnson City, Washington Co (1968 &1987 SSDI). There was an obituary in the newspaper and I'm trying to connect the lines to find out which Whitehead branch the line belongs to. The obituary concerns Sandra Faye Whitehead. Her parents are listed as Harlan & Thelma BABB Whitehead; grandparents as Earl & Hattie Whitehead. I'm looking to see if Hattie's maiden name is Hill. If not, then I need to know who Earl belongs to, as there were several Earl Whitehead's back then. Also, I can't find a Harlan on the 1930 census or earlier unless he went by another name or was born after the 1930 census. I appreciate the help. Claudia Carson WHITEHEAD, HICKS, OAKS

Author: wama1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.carter/1214/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am searching for the parents of my 3rd great-grandfather, John D. Blevins. I know that he appeared before a Justice of the Peace in Carter County in August of 1832. He would have been 21 years old. He next appears on the 1840 Census in Hawkins County and then moved to Arkansas, appearing on the 1850 Census there. There does not appear to be any Blevins on the 1820 Carter Census, but then there is quite a gagle on the 1830 Census, so I assume that a Blevins group must have moved to Carter prior to the 1830 Census. Anyway, I would very much appreciate any assistance, suggestions, guidance or therapy in my frustratng quest to locate the parents of my John D. Blevins. 3. Cousins, My great grandmother's (Caroline BLACK 1851-1930) obit said she married Wm Bunton and had Ella, then he died. Then she married Wm Perkins, had Ethel (1881-1976) and then he died. Then she married Mr. Seagraves and that marriage ended in divorce. In actuality, I believe she was never married, but someone needed to create a life for a good Baptist lady who attended church and had two daughters with families living in the Weiser, Idaho area. This is all just fine with me -- I'm happy to have a life. :) However, it's also sad, because Ethel is my grandma and unless DNA turns up something helpful, I'll likely never know who my great grandfather actually was. I've run across several potentials with the right name -- Wm Perkins -- who were about the right age; however, I have no proof and proof is highly unlikely. All I ask is that you cousins who are researching the Perkins line in NE Tennessee will keep me and my great grandma in mind should you run across a likely story. Grandma Ethel Perkins-Black was a jewell of a grandma, born in Butler, Tennesseem, now under TVA waters.
