Allen(sometimes listed as W.A. Allen) was a son of Samuel Allen. I think Samuel Allen was born about 1824 because on the 1880 Census in Carroll County he is listed as being 56. The reason I think my William A. Allen born August 1852 in Tennessee is his son, is because on the 1870 Census he is listed as Albert. I believe my William A. Allen was William Albert Allen. This Albert was 19 but probably was 17. The strong possiblity exist becasue I finally found the marriage record for W.A. Allen and L.Caroline Bowman in Madison County, Tennessee on September 5, 1878. I always was looking for the marriage record in Hardeman County which is were Laura Caroline Bowman was in 1870. Now that I know how close Madison and Carroll Counties are I am even more convinced. If anyone has this family of Samuel R. Allen and Margaret Orwenshire Allen please email.
