Am interested in the family name of Valentine, especially coupled with the given name of Horace. Mary Valentine Phillips, daughter of Augustine Valentine Phillips and Sarah Wolf Phillips, married Simon Daly in Carroll Co. in 1874. One of Mary and Simon's sons was named Horace A. (A-??) ..... not used in any of the Daly or other Phillip family lines that I am familiar with -- have always wondered where they might have gotten the name. The names of their other four boys were John Eddie, Carl L. , Robert E. and Clint Adkins. The Daly family farm was at Rosser/Post, near Huntingdon...Phillips was nearby. Simon worked on the railroad, as did most of the sons. Mary later became the postmistress for the community, working out of the general store that sat next to the tracks at Rosser. Simon died in 1889, but Mary lived until 1934. They and a number of the extended family members are buried at the Hebron Cemetery. Mary was listed as having been born in Gaston, North Carolina, per the census. Hope some of this rings some bells.... would love to compare notes if so. Thanks and take care, Margaret
