    2. This is to Richard Simmons. Richard, I'm sorry to be so long in getting back to you. Sometimes life just gets in the way of what I'd rather be doing! I don't have a lot of information on my Simmons line. If you can connect any dots, I would appreciate it as well. Here is what I know: My g-g-grandparents were Lemuel D. Simmons & Julia A. Baker. Simmons, Lemuel D. (Pappy, Lem, Limmie D.) His parents unknown b?, d @1874-6 when my g-grandmother, Mandy Malear, was 4 or 5 and her brother, Lee was 5 or 6 m Baker, Julia A., on 4/29/1868, married in or first lived in Sharon, TN. Her parents unknown b @ 1850-1860? d @ 1874, died in premature childbirth when Mandy was 3/4 & Lee was 4/5. 2 children--Lee & Mandy Malear--both below Simmons, Lee b @ 1869 (based on when parents were married and younger sister was born), d? Taken in by another family but was not adopted when parents died. m --, Lou, in Lake Co 5 children--Annie, Alvin, Arthur, Jimmy (same age as Madria Mae Ivie), Myrtle (died young & buried close to ggranddaddy Bennett) Simmons, Mandy Malear (Mammy, Malaria/Maliria/Malarie/Maliar) b 10/3/1870, TN, Weakley Co close to Dresden d 11/2/1924, buried at Olive Branch Cemetery along w/ 4 of her children Adopted by Paschall Roberts & his wife Martha Wyatt when parents died. m Bennett, William Lee, between 1885-1890 8 children--Lea A., Bertha E., William A., Virgie F., Novie A., Madria Mae, Bessie F., James V. m Lamar, J. H., on 12/9/1915; no children; J.H. Lamar was a Mason; Mammy then became an Eastern Star. Good luck! Sylvia

    2. Does anyone have or know of an Elijah Childress who lived in Carroll County? His family moved there from Marshall County Alabama. When the family moved back to Alabama around 1864, Elijah stayed. He eventually married a woman by the name of Sis. I have found them on the 1880 Carroll County census. I am not sure of the paper, but assume it to be the McKenzie Banner. Obituary - 25 Jan 1959 - Mrs. George Argo of Trezevant Mrs. Tena Argo died Sunday afternoon, January 25, at Robertson Hospital in Trezevant of heart ailment. She was 66. Services were held Tuesday afternoon at Trezevant Baptist Church. Brummit Funeral Home was in charge. Mrs. Argo was born in Canada where she lived until she came to Trezevant abut 15 years ago. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Her husband, George Argo, retired Louisville and Nashville Railroad employee, is the only immediate survivor.

I have done no research on Rebecca but she fits in with the Boyds and Singelton families you are working with.

(That's in NE of Co. by Henry Co. line, I'm told) They are mother Lefa Peacock and children Barney 18 (b.NC), Mary A. 14 (b.TN), Perneicy 11, Elizabeth M 8, Amanda C. 7 Lefa L. 5, Nancy Kirkland 21 (b.NC - another daughter who had married and husband Kirkland had died), and Nancy's daughter Ann 2. They Came from Wayne Co. NC with father Willie (Wiley) bet. 1832-1836 and settled first in Henry Co. (1840 Henry census, p.482). Rufus in 1850 Henry Co. census. Father Willie must have died abt 1845. I'm looking for whatever I can find on any of them. Here's what I have so far: Nancy remarried William ABERNATHY Dec. 1850; daughter Ann married George S. Jones 1868 Carroll Co.; Barney in Carroll 1860 census m.Alphasis, son James b. 1859, sister Elizabeth living with them; Mary Ann m. John Bean VICKERY in Feb 1861 Carroll Co.(They are buried Shady grove Baptist Church Cem., Henry Co./have children's names); Peneicy m. Steven M. Thompson in 1859 Carroll Co. Does anyone know where Willie/Wiley and Lefa Peacock are buried? Can anyone locate any of the siblings above in 1870 census? Thanks, Ray
