Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Carroll/11703 Surname: Morris, King, Ellis ------------------------- Hello there, just wondering if your Dollie Morris had an aunt or mother or a grandmother who was also Dollie Morris? Seems like a stretch there would be 2 women named Dollie Morris from near same area and perhaps a generation or two apart. There might be a connection and am hoping. Thanks

This Dolly married a Taylor. Her son Paul Taylor still lives in Parsons TN. However Aunt Dolly did live in Hollowrock when she passed away in the 60's. That was the reason I was so sure it was her. Sorry. Sandra
I haven't participated in a roll call in a long time so thought I would throw my name in the ring to see if I could get some hits. I am researching the names of RUMAGE/RUMMAGE/WEBB.

Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Carroll/11701 Surname: Morris, King, Ellis ------------------------- Hello there, am hoping you have my Dollie Morris. I am not sure what year my Dollie was born but she married Alvin Thomas King in about 1845 in Benton County Tennessee and they had my gg-grandmother Dolly King-Ellis in about 1846. King himself lived in the Carroll-Benton counties area and could be Dollie Morris died in this area. However this family had some ties with Gisson County Tennessee but not sure what the connection was. I know nothing about Dollie Morris other than this. Does my dates seem to be the right timeline to be your Dollie Morris? Despriatly seeking Dollie Morris, thanks.

Posted on: Carroll Co. Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Carroll/11700 Surname: Singleton ------------------------- According to our family records, Robert Singleton married Annabelle Miller, daughter of Mary A. Miller in 1898. That's my only link. Hope that will be of some help. Annabelle was born in Decatur County in about 1878 or 1879. The family was thought to have moved to Henderson County after the birth of Annabelle. Many of the families moved back and forth from Decatur, Henderson, and Carroll county and only moved a few miles from each location with the counties cornering in the area near Natchez Trace/Shiloh.

Posted on: Carroll Co. Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Carroll/11697 Surname: MCCAULEY, MCAULEY, BENTON ------------------------- Greg, There most likely is a connection between your Daniel and my Jeanette MCCAULEY/MCAULEY. Jeanette m John BENTON before 1800, they resided in Montgomery Co., NC about 1810 thru about 1832 when they removed to Carroll Co., TN, then abt 1851 they removed to Hendricks Co., IN to reside with their son Clark Lilley BENTON who in 1838 at age 18 attended Bloomington Academy in Hendricks Co., IN. Jeanette and John are buried in the Pittsboro Cemetery, White Lick Baptist Church, Middle Twp., Hendricks Co., IN. So, Clark BENTON could have gone to Bloomington Academy at the beaconing of his relative, your Daniel MCAULEY. I still do not know anything about Jeanette's parents or siblings. I have an idea that possibly Jeannette's family first went to Orange Co., NC as there are many MCCAULEY/ MCAULEY's there and I have found some possible clues, but this is only an asumption. Questions: Do you know what towns your MCAULEY's resided in Montgomery Co., NC and Carroll Co., TN? Do you have any information on the Bloomington Academy? Marcia Hardesty

Perhaps we have some McAuleys in common. My ancestor Daniel McAuley's parents came to NC in 1774, from Scotland and Daniel was born about 1775. He moved to Virginia about 1806 and married. They did return to Montgomery Co., NC in 1812- 1816.In 1832 he and his family moved to Hendricks Co.,IN. and by 1839 moved to Grant Co., WI Territory. Jeanette and Daniel do have several things in common. Email me at home, as this was the first time I've visited rootsweb. Greg Williams

I am new to the Carroll Co. TN mail list. The majority of my research is in Henderson Co. and Decatur Co. TN. Someone on the Henderson Co. TN mail list told me that Cedar Grove is in Carroll Co. TN and not Henderson as I originally thought. I hope someone can help me with the date of birth of Alma D. CARY, where she was born, and where she is buried. Alma D. Cary is the daughter of John C. Cary and wife Sarah Jordan Cary. (See obit below of Sarah Jordan Cary.) Alma D. Cary married Millard Filmore "Phil" Dunkle on 21 Dec 1919, marriage information recorded in Henderson. Co. TN. Phil Dunkle was born Decaturville, Decatur Co. TN. Alma and Phil Dunkle at one time lived in Leavenworth, Kansas. They had 4 children: Mildred, Dorothy, Charles and Margaret. Alma and Phil Dunkle later divorced. Phil Dunkle worked at Leavenworth Federal Prison, Leavenworth, KS. Phil retired from there, moved to Orlando, FL, remarried and had one additional son, Phillip. Alma D. Cary is listed as Mrs. M.F. Dunkle in below obit. I am researching Alma D. Cary because of her connection to Dunkle family of Decatur Co. TN. Thank you. Linda Fuller Long, Yorba Linda, CA "Cary, Sarah Jordan (The Lexington Progress, July 12, 1940) Mrs. John C. Cary of the Cedar Grove community died at her home Sunday morning following a heart attack. She was born and reared in Henderson County and was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, four sons, J.W., R.H., W.O., of Lexington, and G.A., of Kansas; two daughters, Mrs. M.F. Dunkle of Kansas, and Miss Kate Cary of Cedar Grove; four brothers, G. W. Jordan of Lexington; John Jordan of Bemis; Sam Jordan of Texas, and Sid Jordan of Gibson County; two sisters, Mrs. W.L. Coffman of Cedar Grove and Mrs. W.A. Lawler of Lexington. Rev. W.A. Sorry, but I haven't run across a Dollie Morris yet. Of course, I know so little about the Morris family right now, there may be a connection I haven't found. I just found out not long ago that Isaac Morris (my great great-grandfather) died in Carroll county. I have been searching for 16 years for the little bit of info I have on my Morris clan.
Posted on: Carroll Co. Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Carroll/11689 Surname: May, Noles ------------------------- Hi Kate, I think I may have talked to you at a funeral home one day (on the porch). I don't think that Harriet had any children by the marriage. Julia Ann May was close to Harris Higdon and visited him often according to my grandmother, Jeanettie Noles but I believe they were only step siblings by marriage. Yes, we visited Julia Ann, daughter of Josephine. She is in a nursing home in Corning, Ark. We also visited with her daughter Josephine and granddaughter, Judy. As you probably know there are 5 generations of them living. Julia Ann, Josephine the daughter, Judy the granddaughter, Rhonda the ggranddaughter, and Rhonda's son. Sorry can't remember his name at the moment. Julia Ann is 94 and sharp. She can tell some tales and is very intertaining. Actually all she knows about the Noles is by visiting when she was a young girl and hearing relatives talk. Would love to have the picture of Julia Ann May and Wyly Richardson. Do you know where the Richardson part of has name came from? Do you know anything of the Bond's?
Posted on: Carroll Co. Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Carroll/11687 Surname: May, Noles ------------------------- Hello there, I am just beginning my May genealogy and know little. Your speculation about Harriet Bonds-May having been married to a Thomas Higdon just might be correct as my grandmother Nancy Baker-Ellis (Madame) made mention many times that we had Higdon folks. I have photo of Julia Ann May-Noles and husband Wyly Richardson Noles if you'd like a cope I will e-mail it to you. In the photo Julia favors a lady I went to grade school with, Alica Higdon-Hampton. The lady in Arkansas you went to see, was her mother my Aunt Josie Noles? Loooo, Kate
