Clark is one of my surnames. Would W. B. Clark be related to David Clark who was married to Elizabeth King? I do not know when David Clark was born but I do know that he and Eliz. King were married in 1865 in Haywood Co. That is all I know about him except that he had at least 2 sons named Charlie Sevier and Tom. Charlie was my g-grandfather. Thanks, Susan
Elmira Lavinia Hicks' tombstone in Winchester (Fayette Co.) Texas reads: "Elmira L. Clark, wife of W. B. Clark, born at Hunting, Carroll Co., Tenn. Nov. 7, 1832, died at Smithville, Texas Jan. 23, 1897." "Hunting" must have been Huntingdon. Her mother may have been Lavinia Ury who married a Hicks. She is known to have had a brother, Dr. William Hardaway Hicks, 1835-1902. Who are their parents? I have researched some Carroll Co. records and also Arkansas records on Dr. Hicks with no luck.

Because the digest sends messages as attachments and because of the recurring problem with worm attachments (see latest below, from my work webmaster), I will have to UNSUBSCRIBE to this listserv. I have too much sensitive data on my work computer. Even though I have virus protection both at work and at home, I'm just making it a practice to open no attachments. With regrets, Sylvia A virus/worm called [email protected] is making it's way around this week, and you need to be aware of it. The worm replicates via email, but Norton AntiVirus does stop it (if you have current definitions). This worm can potentially have a very dangerous payload if Norton is not up-to-date and your system is infected. Much like the Melissa virus, the worm comes via an e-mail attachment from someone that you know (or someone that has your address in their address book anyway). Here's how to identify an infected email message: The subject of the email will be random, and will be the same as the file name of the email attachment. (One infected message came with the subject of "DHS", another with "1st Mortgage Letter".) The first line of the email message is: Hi! How are you? The last line of the email message is: See you later. Thanks The body if the email message will contain one of the following lines: I send you this file in order to have your advice I hope you can help me with this file that I send I hope you like the file that I sendo you This is the file with the information that you ask for If you get a message like this, delete it immediately - DO NOT open the attachment. (To tell the truth, we're almost at a point that if you get an attachment from anyone - including someone that you know, and you didn't know that it was coming, check with that person before you open the attachment.) Here are some things the worm does: - The worm appends a random document from the infected PC's "My Documents" folder to itself and sends this new file via email. (Needless to say, sensitive data can be compromised as a result.) - Deletes files: 1 in 20 chance of deleting all files and directories on C:. Only occurs on systems where the date is October 16 and which are using D/M/Y as the date format. Always occurs if attached file contains "FS2" not followed by "sc". - Degrades performance: 1 in 50 chance of filling all remaining space on the C: drive by adding text to the file c:\recycled\sircam.sys . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I am researching James R. Keating who married Sarah A. Mitchell on 26 November 1846 in Carroll County, TN. I believe that they may be the parents of my gggrandmother, Frances Lydia Keating who was born about 1847 in Tennessee. If these people are of my family, they migrated to Stoddard County, Missouri around 1864 or 1865. I have some evidence to support that they are the same family, but I'm anxious to confirm it. Does anyone out there have information on James R. Keating or Sarah A. Mitchell? I'd appreciate any help that you could give me. -Karen

I would be interested if you find where they came from, as my FRENCH family was in Anson Co., NC in 1762, and later ended up in Carroll Co., TN. I have been researching for years, but can't find a clue as to where they were from before Anson Co., NC. My ancestor was named Gideon and there are no other Gideons in the French family, but I know there was a Gideon GREEN in Anson Co. Please, keep me informed as to this family. Julia French Wood
Searching for info on the family of Abner H. Smith m. Emma/Sarah Jane Dowdy. There were in Carroll Co. from 1820-1849. They left this area and moved to Clinton, VanBuren Co. ARK in 1850. Several families traveled to ARK were Polk, Huie, Story, Stobaugh, Rogers, Cates, Williams and many more. Please contact me if you have info.
Hi Tammy, I am working on the Huie, Polk, Smith, Dowdy, Rumley and many more names for Henderson and Carrol Co's moving on to VanBuren Co. ARk. My grandfather was Abner H. Smith m. Emma or Sarah Jane Dowdy. Has the Smith or Dowdy name ever came up in some of your research? I know that alot of these families intermarried and were definitely related. Let me know what you think!.
Hello I'm sorry I know nothing on Bell. I was wanting to know if you know the names of the Colliers that are buried there? Maybe some dates or something. Thank you, Donna Collier
Information I have recently received from a long - time Rogers researcher and his family, indicated that the Rogers in Stanly Co's. NC, Anson Co. NC, Mecklenburg Co. NC, Union Co. NC, and other nearby counties are all related. This line of Rogers may have been out of Wake Co. NC earlier. The first record they have of a Rogers in Anson Co. NC is one dated June 24, 1762. This man was a Job Rogers b. ca. 1753 and was a grandson of an earlier Job Rogers. This Job Rogers of Anson Co. NC had a large plantation there according to this information, I've received. He made out his will in 1798 and it was probated in 1799 in Anson Co. NC. He listed as his living heirs, Thomas, Job, and Mark, and two daughters, Sara and Keziah. Job and Thomas remained in Anson Co. NC. Others associated with this line however, as I understand it, may have also been in Duplin Co. NC too. There is a family group sheet that shows some of these near kin Rogers being in Alabama, South Carolina, Unio! n Co. NC, Georgia, and of course Anson Co. NC. But the Mecklenburg Co. NC Rogers may also be related from what I can determine from these old letters, and other information. I am only now starting to research some of this, as just having received this information also.
