I'm trying to locate any info. on ELLIS families, descendants in Carroll, Gibson and Madison Co., TN. My ancestor John W. Ellis was from this area. Here is a timeline for him: 1805 - born in N.C. 1831-1833 in TN (was married to Miriam and had one child before moving to Miss.) 1840 - Marshall Co., Miss. census 1850 - Marshall Co., Miss. census 1860 - Carroll Co., TN census 1870 - Gibson Co., TN census (John W. Ellis died & left a will in Gibson Co., TN in 1877). His children married LANIER, DONNELL, etc., and there are family ties to HERRON, HUTCHINGS, HOLMES, SENTER, ALEXANDER, WOODS, MAY, etc. etc.
Researching Barham families/descendants from VA who came to Carroll and Madison Co., TN.
I have in my files Sarah Putnam married to Wade H. Carlton. Quite possibly the spelling should be Putman. I also have a Jabel Putman b. 1775 and his children. I show Jabel as the son of James Putman died 12/11/1811. Does anyone have any of these names in your files. Are you interested in Allie's information? Her only child, William Thomas (Wade) Jacobs was my great grandfather. I have more information about the Putmans as well. Several generations that I have found and then many, many generations that a fellow I found on the internet supplied to me. I have not verified them, but he says that he researched them himself. I have Lucy Anne Bledsoe's parents and a bit more on the paternal side. If you are interested, I will be more than happy to send it to you though I am NOT sure of the validity of all of the Putman/Putnam info. Nice to meet you, cousin. :) Beth Stephenson [email protected]

I am new at tracing my family tree, but am a descendent of Zebulon Scates. I believe William Scates was his father, born 1741 in Halifax Co. VA and married Mary KERSEY. I am trying to find information on Rebecca J. Hannings, first wife of Elisha Scates. Elisha was the son of Joseph Scates, whose father was Zebulon. I would like to identify Rebecca Hannings parents, where she was born, and the cause of her young death. Any information on this Scates family line would be appreciated.
