He was married twice, with both wives apparently named Margaret. The first was Margaret Morris. I don't know the maiden name of the second. I know he was in the Carroll Co area for a period of time, but I am not sure he stayed there. General Hawkins served in Maryland during the War of 1812 and left shortly afterwards. I know his daughter is connected to the Gee Family and at least one son was here. Any information would be welcome. I will gladly share what I have with anyone interested in General Hawkins' ancestry. Thank you. lived in Tennessee.

In reply to the query re burial place of Stephen S. Pate or Pate descendants, The History of Carroll County, Tennessee, Volumne One - 1987, Page 287 on the Pate Clan, reports that "Stephen S., Sr. and Duncan gave land 3 miles west of McKenzie for Salem Church (a splinter of Enon which their father Stephen helped found.) Both are buried at Salem...". Barbara Clark of McKenzie, TN is a descendant and might be able to help you. She can be located through the Gordon Browning Museum, McKenzie, TN.
