Hi List, My Chilton's come from Carrol Co. and I am wondering if the following stories are familuar to anyone or if there is someone who does newspaper look-ups that might be able to find evidence of the following: 1. My grandfather, John Chilton fell trying to hop a train to get from Fulton, KY to Sharon (I think), Weakley Co., TN. When he fell, the train took his left hand off. He was trying to get back to his wife, Ollie (Campbell) Chilton. She was giving birth to twins. Ollie died about a month after giving birth. One of the twins was still born, a boy they named John, and the other was a girl named Ollie Virginia, she went by Virginia, she was raised by her maternal grandparents Monroe Campbell. This was in Oct/Nov 1913. and the second would have been between Mar and Dec 1892: John Buchanan Chilton, went by the name Buck Chilton. As the story goes, Buck was shot in an arguement over wild Hogs. No charges were ever pressed against the shooter because it was considered a fued. He left a wife Sallie (Pankey) Chilton, who was pregnant, and two other children Mary Viola (Ola), and John Nathaniel. I'm not sure what county this happened in. Would also be interested in knowing where Buck is burried. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sylvia Fleming

These are the original marriage records and not the transcribed ones that are in the Marriage Books of Carroll Co. TN. William A. Rogers married in 1841, so assume them to be in those earlier original marriage records that may have burned in the 1930 period. Tina
