I didn't intend to come off so bluntly on my last posting. I just keep thinking it is ACTUALLY going to be a post about Cannon Co. or something not so "off topic" as this has been. We all have ties to the South somehow, thank Goodness I'm still here! Alot of my family came from Cannon County or I wouldn't subscribe to the board. My apologies if I offended anyone. That is OK kelly ! I read a letter from Jess to Danny Nichols the other day and it was said the Site was slow. Jess replied it was due to everyone being out for summer. I thought I would stir up the Hornet's Nest a little. Besides, it is good to hear all about what our Ancestors cooked up. Not many people nowadays would know what a Friendship Cake is. Yes, it is a cake, but it was called that because the women would share the ingredients. There was the starter juice, etc. Thus by sharing, you had your friends and new friends. Kinda what we do on Genealogy on this Cannon County Site. We share as a aFamily what we have because someone else might need this or that. Something to add to get that cake done right. Of course we have those flour throwers here also !!! But they are Family and share too ! I live in Indiana and do not get to eat or even hear about those good foods I was raised on. I told a neighbor about one of my cousins ate squirrel legs and frog legs and he did not believe me. Hey, he use to lean out his window of his house and " powder a nest " near the house and go out and get the squirrel.He would skin them, fry them in bacon grease and drink an RC with it. Made that man happy. Lived to a ripe old age too. Again, I am sorry, but I thought I would wake the Site up a little. Not much to do when you are a little blind.
