Note no corrections were made to spelling however there may be typing errors because I had difficulty reading the microfilm in places. James Reed To Last Will State of Tennessee Cannon County In the name of God I James H. Reed being week in body but of sound mind and memory conserning the uncertainty of this mortal life do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others whatever. First I will and direct that my debts and funeral expeses be paid out of the money I may die possesed of or the first that may come to hand. 2nd I will and direct that my wife Lidda Reed remain in possession of my mountain home with all the bed steads beds and blankets quilts counterpines and cubboard and shelf ware and chair. All the cooking utentials, beaughro my black horse and her side saddle and bridle with this benefit of all the stock hogs rents of the land or the long field with the priviledge of the use of wood and timber off the ridge coller the family ridge two tables one clock one yoak of oxen during her natural life at which time or when it shall be the will of God both [?] off She is at liberty to make such disposition of it as she may think best. 3rd I will and direct that a certain Sorrel mare I own to be and remain in the possession of my wife Lidda bus buts that her in case may be divided part to Yong and then to John to any share be 4th I will and direct that my sons John, Young and Hugh Reed have all the land including the field toward Allen Thomases then west with this North boundary line thince South to middle of a ridge then with the center of Southerdly and eastwardly to the Conditierale corner or line between me and my son James Reed then North with son [Candstrudy?] line to a road then South boundary line of my son George Reed the [frashing?] between my mountain home and where George Reed now lives is to have free [grass?] and access to my family Reeds for wood and timber after the death of my wife Lidda Reed. 5th I will and direct that my son Yong have the chance of tending a portion of the long field as his mother may deem and after her I will them all the above included lands to be divided between my sons John, Hugh, and Young Reed as they may think best after the death of my wife Lidda and to their heirs afterwards. 6th I will and direct that my son James Reed have all the land east of a certain poplar as corner standing near his house running thus south with the before mentioned conditional line between me and my son James Reed to a hollow lyne in the low gap on the top of the ridge thence with the center of the ridge and around to said [Jimis] then with my son James Reed to the popplar corner near his house. But it is distinctly stated that he pays rent for all this above land during my and my Lidda's natural life after that all the benefits are his for own. 7th I will that the lands I have deeded to my son George Reed to be his for full portion of my estate I thus wish it to remain as my will and lastly I hereby will and appoint my son James Reed and my wife Lidda Reed executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the 21st day of November 1852. Sign, seal and publish James H. Reed by this same James H. Reed to be his last in the presence of us test B. B. Dickins State of Tennessee David Potter Cannon County December term of said Court 1852 then personally appeared in open court David Potter am of the subscribing to the wittness proper righting who just being sworn before and say that he is acquainted with this siad James H. Reed the testator wishes have and state his actual the same in his presence to be his last will and testament on the day it bares date witness Brinkley Lasseter Clerk of said county court appear this 1st Monday in December 1852 B. Lassiter/R State of Tennessee Cannon County March Term of said court 1853 then personally appeared in open court B.B. Dickins one of the subscribing witneses to this written paper righting first being sworn dispose and say that was acquainted with the said James H. Reed testator in his life and that he signed his name and acknowledges the same in his presents to be his last will and testament on the day at date witness Brinkley Lassiter Clerk of the said court at office this the first Monday in March 1853 Register in Woodbury at appearance March 25th day 1853.     3. This James H. Reed is in my husband's line of Reed's. Were we just giving B.B. Dickins info or is this any relation to this Reed? Thanks! Also, do you have the father of this Baxter Dickins? I have Dickens out of North Carolina. Thomas Dckens b1761 who married Molly Stevens in Halifax, NC. Any relation?
