    2. Cecelia, White Castles and Krystals are small, square, thin hamburgers covered in chopped onion. The buns are the perfect size and are moist from being placed on top of the hamburgers while still on the griddle. Delicious!! The heart-burn only comes with age. 3. The heartburn may get worse with age but I remember being a child and hearing my dad calling them "gut bombs" Even then I knew exactly what he ment by that. Now at least I know to take my zantac before we leave the house for Krystal! Krystal is prob. more popular in the south because the are headquartered in Chattanooga, TN. Amy

    2. Danny Nichols
    3. Kevin, I do not know the owner of this property personally. I have stopped by his house and talked with him before. He is very kind and accommodating and much the Southern gentleman. This cemetery is not threatened with regard to access as long as he owns the property. By the way, James Ready is buried there and he was a veteran of the War of 1812. When I was there last, about 3 years ago, the cemetery had been fenced but the inside had grown up in weeds a good deal. This cemetery is in great need of a foundation of some type to see that it is maintained and preserved. It is a wonderful old cemetery and many Cannon Co. families have roots there. The evolution of the community cemetery had its beginning as a small family plot. When the early settlers passed away, it was a common practice for the family to bury them on their own land. After nearly 200 years of settlement, this land, for the most part, is still held as private property by today's land owners. There are literally thousands of early Cannon County residents buried in the small family plots on private property. Those families that remained in the area saw their families grow. These extended family members would also use the family cemetery plot for burials of their family members. In just a few generations, it became common to see the small family plots become substantially larger as they grew to include in-laws, aunts, uncles, and even neighbors. The study of these old cemeteries and the associations of those buried there is a study of life itself as it pertained to our ancestors and early settlers of the area. Best Regards, Danny Nichols > Danny, > sounds like a Great Idea !! Didn't you say you knew the Bryson man who > owns the Ready Cemetery on Locke Creek ? > Kevin

    3. I am Diabetic also. Watch the sodium on Sunkist Orange. I love Diet Grape, but they do not have it up north. I found it at Winn Dixie in the South. I remember when I was a driver for Tractor Supply in 1996. I use to go to Cookeville, TN and deliver. They had a Bonanza just north of I-40 on the main drag. Had excellent food, especially the Chicken Livers. They closed all the Bonanzas up north here. I think we have two Ponderosas left. Golden Corral and Ryans are big here. Diet Mountain Dew is good also. What happened to the RC and Moon Pie ?? Kevin

    3. Sundrop (Golden Cola) does NOT taste like Mountain. Dew, Mellow Yellow, Sprite, or any of the diet drinks. It has it's own distinct taste. Even though Sundrop's headquarters is in Plano, TX., I've never seen it for sale there. Usually only in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and a few other places. Like Bobby, though, I actually prefer a tall, cold glass of Sweet Tea. A friend recently served us Sweet Tea, that had crushed peppermint leaves added. That was pretty tasty, also. Jess

    3. No, I've never seen the galvanized metal thing. Should work though. My wife, Joanna, says she remembers something like roofing tin, being used. I've always had some skepticism about all the hype over vaults anyway. Probably a Madison Avenue selling job, to make $$$ for someone. The old wooden caskets, of years ago, still seem adequate to me. Let nature reclaim the remains, after a few years. Jess

    1. Re: [TNCANNON] TNCANNON Digest, Vol 2, Issue 87
    2. BJ, Thanks for your ideas and support. The issue over the cemeteries supercedes that of our county and includes the entire state. We can, however, begin to organize a coalition of support starting with one county at a time. This support group could then be plugged into a state organization made up of individuals who are concerned about this issue and other issues that affect our ability to preserve our heritage. Our hope would be to create an alert process wherein we can notify all those interested in this issue as keep them informed as to progress on such bills. This group could then, both individually and collectively, become a voice to be heard by our senators and representatives in the legislature. There are many curves yet to be straightened out but this effort may become reality should there be enough support for the idea. Others are working toward this in neighboring counties as well. Those having interest in such a unified effort and being listed on a contact list, please e-mail me with your thoughts and request to be added to such a group. Our greatest weapon of defense can be our voice to the State Legislature. Just our voices on an individual basis may already be affecting the progress of these bills. I have been advised by Senator Doug Jackson's office, co-sponsor of the Senate version of the bill, that SB1804 has been pulled from further consideration during this session of the legislature. This leaves the House Bill HB1354 still a threat should it make it to the floor for a vote. Sherry Jones of Nashville is the Representative sponsoring this version of the Bill. Note that when a Bill is pulled, it is not necessarily withdrawn. It can be reactivated during the next term of the legislature. Please let me know your desire to join such a state effort by e-mailing me at: mssc@heartoftn.net Thank you, Danny Nichols > >Message: 12 >Date: Fri, 11 May 2007 17:08:26 -0700 >From: BJ Martindale <bjmartindale@juno.com> >Subject: Re: [TNCANNON] Cemetery Legislation >To: tncannon@rootsweb.com >Message-ID: <20070511.170827.4076.4.bjmartindale@juno.com> >Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii > >How hard would it be to organize an Association for the >Preservation of Historic and Family Cemeteries of Cannon >County? 3. I wasn't a big fan of root beer, either, as Coke was my drink of choice. But this was really special. It made a really good float, too. The canned and bottled A&W root beer just don't taste the same. They had dispensers that looked like huge barrels, then put the root beer in those frosted heavy glass mugs. Lots of foam, and really refreshing.
