    3. What do you call it when you go to a Church where your loved one is buried and you are to put flowers on the grave if not decoration day ? We have Decoration Day at different Churches the whole month of May.It was Decoration Day on Mother's Day where my husbands mom is buried.

    3. > I have not heard the term "Decoration Day" in a long time. Was Decoration > Day the beginning of Memorial Day? Yes, began at the end of the War of Northern Aggression as I recall, and the older name continues to be used in places where the graves of veterans are 'Decorated' (as they should be). I have a cousin buried in Gilley Hill killed in Korea while about all I had to do was dodge some mines. I think BOTH names are appropriate and using them in conjunction makes a lot of sense. 3. My uncle, Havey Carrick, was the son of Andy Smith Carrick. Harvey bought a tombstone for his father years after he died. He never knew his father. Harvey lived with his grandfather, Zachariah Moore, most of his younger years. This was around the Cherry Cemetery area The death date is probably wrong. Andy had to die about 1898 or 1899. He married Francis Moore. She is a widow in 1900. George Carrick, the last son, was born in 1899. Looks like Andy Smith Carrick was the son of A.J. Carrick. Kevin Morgan
