    1. Re: [TNCANNON] Kelley Family - S.J. or Lucinda J. Ward?
    2. Gary & Suze Durk
    3. I was just perusing this thread and had a thought - you might try giving a careful look at the original census page image, if possible, as sometimes the handwriting of census takers can be difficult to decipher- I thought maybe the "S" or "L" may have been mistaken one for the other, if you are getting the info from a transcription. Some of those enumerators had elaborately beautiful penmanship, but sometimes, don't you wish they knew about using plain block lettering to fill out forms? I'd check this myself for you, but don't have access to that particular census page image. Hope this helps. Sash wrote: >Jess, > Lousy and Mothy. Poor girls have their names mis-spelled for all time! :) > I'm wondering if S.J. Ward IS Lucy Ward. Maybe Lucy was her nick name...? I know that date of marriage is correct though. 3. Hi, all. I made an attempt to put this up last week, but failed. In the 1850 census Cannon County, TN, I have an Irwin Inglis, b. 1827 in SC, living with his wife Elizabeth, b. 1827 in TN and three children. There are also James Cook, b. 1810 in SC, and John Cook, b. 1816 TN. I am researching the Cook line and came across this. Kristi Moffitt <[email protected]> wrote: I have a Walter Inglis married to Georgie Nell Grizzle who was daughter of George Swann Grizzle and Lela Hennessee. They lived in Warren County, but the Grizzle's are originally from Cannon County around Short Mountain/Gassaway area. I have no information other than Walter's name. Does he fit in anybody's tree that have Inglis/English? I don't have dates for Georgie Nell or Walter, but George Swann Grizzle was born 7 Dec 1879 and died 3 Feb 1971. That might help. Also, my entire family tree is online at www.kristimoffitt.com if you want to see how these people fit in. Thanks for any input and good luck in your research! 1. Hyperlinked cemetery map
    2. Teresa Elliott
    3. In the Eastern division of the Rutherford County cemeteries is several cemeteries that are actually in Cannon County. A few of those have been photographed. I added the Beech Grove Quadrangle map tonight showing all the cemeteries in that Quad. Cemeteries that are surrounded by a black box have been photographed. This map was created by GoogleEarth and I added in the cemeteries that weren't on Google. They are as close to the right area as I could get. To get to the quadrangle map, go to the Eastern division and click on any of the Beech Grove Quadrangles. The map will take a while to load. Once on the map you can click on any boxed cemetery and go to a cemetery listing for that cemetery. I am posting this here, since most of the cemeteries listed are actually in Cannon. To get to the main page go to http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rutherfordcemetery/ Let me know what you think about the quadrangle maps. I know they take a while to load, but I hope the wait will be worth it. Teresa Ghee Elliott-IBSSG

    2. Stephanie... Can you tell me any thing about John Edgar Brandon 1871-1950? My gr-grandmother was Sarah Brandon b.1864 and she married Gideon P. Bryson in Cannon Co., TN in 1884. Their first child was a boy they named Lemuel John Edgar Bryson. The Lemuel was for his brother, I wonder where the John Edgar came in.... Maybe she was related to this John Edgar Brandon... I don't have him in my records. 3. Researchers: I am looking for any information regarding Mary Asline COOPER. Need her place of birth, date of birth, parents, and such. I have only her name at this time and the date of her marriage to Jesse A. SISSOM on October 13, 1878, in Cannon County, Tennessee. Jesse A. Sissom, the third child of William W. Sissom and Polly (Mary) Taylor was born ca. June, 1858, married Mary Asline Cooper on October 13, 1878, in Cannon County, Tennessee and had at least nine children. Jesse A. Sissom died between 1900 and 1910 in Tennessee. Mary Asline Cooper was born ca. March, 1860. The 1900 and 1910 Coffee County, Tennessee, census confirms this. John Sissom [email protected] Sola Fida

    3. Jess, Lousy and Mothy. Poor girls have their names mis-spelled for all time! :) I'm wondering if S.J. Ward IS Lucy Ward. Maybe Lucy was her nick name...? I know that date of marriage is correct though. It's the same date that was given to me a while back when I started researching our tree. Let the mystery of finding out who is S.J. begin! Thanks for the info Jess! Sasha Jess Lewis <[email protected]> wrote: Sasha, The 1880 Cannon Co. census shows..... Bethel Kelly age 32 "Lousy" J. Kelly (age 20), wife "Mothy"= G. (age 9 mo.) female He is buried in the Sycamore Cemetery (1848-1902) When we did our Cannon Co. Cemetery Book, we didn't find any spouse buried there, however, the Cannon marriage records show a marriage of B.A. Kelley to S.J. Ward, on 7/28/1878 (Don't you just love people who use initials instead of names, in public documents? Quite common, at least in the 1880s, in Cannon Co.) 2. Am curious if anyone out there is doing any research on BRYSON ? My interest would be in a Daniel Bryson, born in Wilson County, Tennessee who moved to Auburntown area in Cannon County. One of his sons was William Kinley Bryson who was born in 1854, left Tennessee and moved to Missouri. Would like to exchange any info. David Bryson Ayars Loveland, Colorado.
