    1. Sarah C. Duke
    2. Linda, I have Sarah C. Dike married to William Van Haley. The 1880 census has Haley, William V. 19, Sarah C. 24, Isaac 10/12. In the 1900 census William V. Haley Dec. 1861, 38 is in Warren County. His wife is now Dora E. Feb. 1858, 42. There are 3 children Mary E. Aug. 1884 15, Willie G.Jun 1892, 7 and Nora Jan 1893 7. In 1910, William V. 51 is still in Warren County. His wife is listed as Ema D. 51. This must be the same person. The length of her present marriage is 20 years which would place their marriage about 1890. Sarah must have died some time before this. The Mary E. in the 1900 census would be her child. The other two children would belong to William and Dora. Sarah seems to have had the two children Isaac and Mary. I have found additional information on Isaac but not Mary. All of this information is in a book Our Morgan Family which is being published by Trafford and should be available next week at www.trafford.com Carl Davenport

    3. Lori - I have Sarah C. Duke, daughter of William P. Duke and Cynthia Morgan. All I have on her is that she m. W. V. Haley on 30 May 1877 according to Marriage Book C, page 162, Marriages, Cannon Co, TN. I have a note to myself to find them in the 1880 census, which is, of course, something I haven't gotten around to!!! 3. Lori, Helen! We need to talk. I have Wm. P. & Cynthia in my d/b at http://dfc.cc as part of my efforts to tie all the SISSOM desc. together. However I have Mordecai as Wm's father, but based on limited info. Let's see what we can do to resolve some questions and perhaps promote getting a lot of our families together over Memorial Day weekend. Joe

    1. Re: [TNCANNON] Duke family
    2. I have very little info on William and Cynthia Morgan Duke but more on their parents. William Duke b. 1765, Granville Co, NC d. 1843, Hardeman Co, TN Notes: Usually signed his name William P. Duke in Warren County to distinguish between all of the William Dukes. He was named in his father's Will. Cynthia Morgan Duke b. 1821, TN d. 1890, Cannon Co, TN She is buried in an unmarked grave in what was once the orchard of the old Duke homeplace. If this is the family and you want more info on his parents, then let me know. Helen

    3. I am searching for information on the Sarah Duke that married John Beason in Cannon Co. in 1871. Judging by the ages in later census records, I think she is the daughter of William and Cynthia Morgan Duke. Does anyone have information on this family? Would some kind soul look at cemetery records for a James Monroe (Jim) WILLIAMS, b. 1833. d. 1863, married in 1857 in Cannon Co, TN to Anna A. DODD, dau of Hiram DODD and Jincy ADAMSON. Anna remarried to John W. MATHIS in 1870. Anna & #2 Mathis are both buried in Sycamore Cem. James Monroe is NOT buried in Sycamore Cem unless it is unmarked. I have both the Cannon Co and DeKalb Co cemetery books, and he is not there under that name. Thanks -- I'll dance at your wedding! 3. Diane, This cemetery is still being used when I was there about 2 years ago. I didn't take pictures because it was a Friday night and there was a large crowd at a local night spot and I was afraid they might not take kindly to me photographing the cemetery. It was well kept at that time.
