    3. In the 4th Tennessee Calvary, Company "G", was Privates Calvin Moore, Polk Sagely (the last Confederate Vet. to die in Coffee Co., TN.), Calvin Jacobs, Joe Knox, Jimmie Knox, Pat Wilson, and many others from the Bradyville & adjacent Coffee Co. area. Their Capt. was J.W. Nichols. -- from Spurlock Brown's History of Woodbury & Cannon Co. 1936 Kevin, From what I can see in this book, Hugh Doak (long dead) and the Doak Printing Co. (long out of business) never put in any Copyright notice, in the book. At any rate, it has been quoted many times over the years, and I don't see any problem with you copying his vet. list. Maybe give a "source note" at the bottom, just to be on the safe side. Jess Lewis

    3. B.J. et.al., You wrote... ...captured & almost died of smallpox and starvation. Pat Wilson, a small Irishman, stole food for him, and was often punished...... Here here. We won't be likin' you to talk badly about my wife's (Joanna) great grandfather, especially here on St. Patrick's day. Patrick Wilson, born in 1830, in Sligo, Ireland, fought for the CSA, with Polk Sagely, Calvin Jacobs and many others from Bradyville and the Gossburg area along the Cannon / Coffee line. He went AWOL on several short trips home to see about the family, but always returned to his unit, a few days later. Patrick (actually William Patrick Wilson) died in 1907 and is buried in the Mt. Hebron Community Cemetery, Coffee Co., near Gossburg, along with several others who fought with him. Ironically, the old cemetery is set aside on a large farm, owned by the Moore family, a rather wealthy family of the later 1800s and early 1900s. Possibly YOUR Moore family. He may have been "small" but he was wiry, with a lot of heart or so we have been told. His sons and grandsons were also smaller framed men. :^)) Small world... Jess Lewis

Just want to check the spelling... I also have decent photos of the headstones for Harvey, Howard and Jessie Carrick. Also Andy and Madora, Zelma and Andy, as well as Nannie Simmons Teal Carrick. 3. Ireland is covered with stone fences. In the west of Ireland many road ways are single lane between the stone fences. Always looking a head for traffic so as to take advantage of narrow turn outs. It must have been back breaking work to clear those plots for pastures or crops. Ireland is high on my list as one of the most beautiful places in this world. 3. Charles, I am unaware of any roadside stands continuing this during this day and time. A few of the antique shops may still have a rock or two sitting around that they per chance might sell to someone who finds them of interest. Geodes were once quite popular as they apparently appear only in a few places around the country. There are still some examples around Woodbury where these were used in rock columns and walls. Two massive rock columns of cut geodes stand at the beginning of Houston Lane which leads up to our county highschool. They are more a geological oddity than anything. They are a thing of natural beauty and commonly used as paperweights, doorstops and for decorative purposes in flower and rock gardens. Well, I'm GTTH (Gone To The House) for the day. I hope everyone has a great weekend. 3. Wow didn't know there was so much interest in ole Woodbury!! My wife and I live here in Woodbury. I'm not from here but her family is, and that's who's family I'm looking up. Does anyone have anything on the Bailey family? I know her family is tied to the Tenpenny's, Reedy's, and the Spurlocks. But as crazy as it might seem, none of her family can remember anything about their Great Grandparents on the Bailey line. Her Grandparents were John Isaac Bailey and Lelar Spurlock. And I may have a connection to a Joseph Bailey being John's father. Does this book being discussed have anything about the Bailey's in it. Bobby Lykins

    3. Hi Betty, Unfortunately Lloyd Campbell does not correspond by Internet or I'm sure he would be happy to look to see if your Campbell connections are part of his line. I suspect there is a good deal of Campbell history in the Morgan Family History just completed by Carl Davenport and Sam Wonders. I am not knowledgeable able the Campbell ancestry or I would be most happy to help you. You might attempt to access the preview pages of the Morgan book to see if you can find anything there about the Campbell family. There was much discussion regarding the order site at the first of the week. If you don't have that, let me know and I will send it to you. 3. Hi Kevin, you've been busy today. I am very interested in any info on the Moore family anywhere close to Bradyville. What are the dates for Frances? Could she have been a sister or cousin to C. T. Moore, born Sept. 14, 1834 according to his tombstone.? Who were her parents and siblings? My brick wall is C. T. Moore m. Sarah Jane Knox in 1856. We have the Knox line and CT's descendants, but cannot find CT's parents. He may have been Calvin Thomas, or Charles Thomas, or ???? He did not own property that I can find, so have no location or parents for him. Family lore says he fought in Civil War in Cavalry, signing up at Bradyville,TN. Back of his saddle was shot off at one time, later his horse was killed and he was captured & almost died of smallpox and starvation. Pat Wilson, a small Irishman, stole food for him, and was often punished. He was fond of horses, always kept a fast double (Surrey) team. Bred horses & mules, also sheep. 1880 Census, Dist 4, in Cannon County TN - C T Moore age 46 born in Virginia, (family had him as born in Bradyville) Wife Sarah age 41, John age 17, Martha P. age 20, Ada age 15, Lee age 13, Sallie age 11, Hattie age 9, Lillie age 7, Alvin age 5 and Joseph age 10. Sarah and all children born in Tenn.(family says Bradyville, TN) I am eager to explore any possible connection to any other Moore's in the area. His daughter, Ada married John McGinn Patton in Bradyville in 1884. John Patton died in 1892 of a leg injury suffered during the building of a road. He left Ada, a widow at age 24, with two children ages 2 and 4. She moved on to Salado, Bell County, Texas with her parents. If you are willing to help me with info on your Frances Moore's family, I'd be appreciative. 3. I think Glenda Dobbs has all the History on Archibald Campbell Family. They came from Wilson County, I think. My Great Grandfather Morgan's two sisters married the two sons of Thomas Campbell. Thomas was the Surveyor of the County in 1867. Thomas was the son of Archibald. What Glenda had sent me in the past, he was a very intelligent man !!
