    3. Red Eye gravy is simply the grease you fry salty country ham in.Scrape any meat loose stuck to the bottom of the iron skillet.Pour in about a half a cup of coffee. You have red eye gravy or a bowl of grease with the flavor of coffee that is not good for your heart.

    3. I love Chocolate gravy. It is Great .It is just a very thin version of chocolate syrup or home made icing.Pour it over hot biscuits for a treat. Can anyone tell me the points of interest in Woodbury and directions to Short Mountain My husband plan a trip to Woodbury in Sept.I suggested we visit where his grandfather was born on Short Mt.and then move on to Memphis to Graceland and back to the Aquarium in Chattanooga [ not sure I spelled that right ] I want to film some of the rock fences in Woodbury which I think my husbands Gr-Gr Grandfather James Murphy built. He liked the ideal of not staying in one place but I am not sure if we will not be zig jagging across the state. We will be comming from North Al.

    3. I know this is out of the loop, but I just wanted to reflect on the cooking of my ancestors in this area. Seems like everyone wants that Southern Cooking now. When I was young, it was something to see when we came from Indiana to visit our relatives down there. You always had to visit everyone and not leave anyone out or you offended them. Everyone always had the dinner cooked too !!! There was a woman who had taken care of my uncle. Her name was Lonnie Gibson. Born in a place called Gnat Hill, near Beech Grove, TN. What a Cook ! Her favorite thing was to make cakes. She would have this starter juice she would share with others. She would add and add. She finished with a Friendship Cake ! I have never tasted a cake like this before and never will again. She gave me the recipe, but I have never made it. She has passed on now. I hope our generation will teach our young these things so they are not lost. I am a Yankee, so I can reflect on great things a lot of you take for granted each day down there, because we do not have it here ! Kevin Morgan P.S. Do not tell anuone in Indiana you have had Frog Eye Gravy. They just stare at you ! DON MARKUM <[email protected]> wrote: hi all , Ill stick my two cents worth in. I recently found an article in "The Liberty Herald" May 15, 1895 giving the details of the arrest of Annie Blancet who was suspected of the crime of drowning a child. A child's body was found by some fishermen on Horse Spring Fork near Burt. The article says Annie Blancet was arraigned before J. J. Davis, who bound her over to the next term of Circuit Court. She was in the Cannon County jail at the time of the article. I believe Annie was a niece of my gggrandfather and would like to have more information about what happened in this instance. 2. We must all have our critters. Living in Colorado with the foot hills across the road the bears come down looking for food. Last week a few blocks from our home a 80 LB bear was in a yard. Cool at nights here in the low 50's. Dave Ayars

    3. Oh, dear! Y'all talk about snakes outside and I'm almost scared to go out in the yard, or for the kids to go out. 8>)) (It's not just the conversation, but me. And I know we really do need to realize and prepare for those things before we go hunting in cemeteries, or anywhere outside.) And my yard really needs work after a little rain last week! My sister assures me that the snakes will run from the noise of the weedeater, but I'm not so sure of that! I don't have any protective gear, like leather boots, to wear outside, but my sister told me that it's okay if you just don't reach into things where snakes might hide. She claims that they are just as scared of us as we are of them. But, in movies, they strike when you come into their territory. I don't know about in real life. To top it off, they caught a a 5 foot long alligator in a ditch two streets over from us a couple of weeks ago, and said that they have caught 4 more almost that big in this area. I didn't know we had alligators anywhere around here, but, apparently they have always been here around creeks and ponds. And a man in a neighboring town, in fact a policeman, I believe, died from a fatal snake bite he got last Friday. I don't know what he was doing or what kind of snake, but that really makes me even more afraid. I thought that, these days, you could get treatment and would most likely be alright. We have the copperheads, too, here in Texas, and water moccasins, rattlesnakes, along with the other king snakes, grass snakes, rat snakes, etc. Further toward the coast, there are coral snakes, too. I don't know why I'm so scared of those. I guess it's being a sissy. I haven't ever seen one outside, when looking in well cared for cemeteries. I haven't ventured in the other ones, except when I was a kid, with a bunch of other kids. Then, we didn't think of critters, but were on the lookout for ghosts. I've seen those young ghost hunters, and others, prowl through cemeteries, and they don't seem to be at all concerned about critters! Good luck and take care as you hunt in the cemeteries. Cecelia in a bit cooler Texas Its not the chiggers or ticks that worry me this time of year. yellow jackets , horents along with copperheads can make with a bad day.. > Don >
