Cousins, James ROOKARD, (brother of my 4th g grandfather Lewis ROOKARD), m Elizabeth BOLTON 9 Aug 1852 Campbell Co, TN b 1 May 1834 Grainger Co TN d 22 Jun 1899 Campbell Co, TN d/o John Thomas BOLTON Jr & Lucinda OAKES. Below is the record of the first BOLTON I have found in America, Debra "Upon the right honourable, the Earl of Southampton’s recommendation of Mr. BOLTON (83) minister, for his honesty and sufficiency in learning, and to undertake the care and charge of the ministry, the Company have been pleased to entertain him for their minister in some vacant place in Virginia and have therefore referred him to the committees to be treated and concluded with, touching his allowance and seated where they shall think fit and most convenient for him." (83) Francis BOLTON first served in Elizabeth City. In 1623 he was minister of the plantation on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay. He succeeded Rev. Hawte Wyat at Jamestown. Thomas Wacnett, a merchant of that place left him a legacy in his will, dated 13th February 1629/30.
