My Granny, Esther Mae Sharp Harness Johnson, once told me that her dad, Isaac Peter Sharp (husband of Martha Jane Stansberry/Stansbury) was asked to sit in as a juror 'in town' (which must have been Jacksboro). She never shared with me what the person in court had done. She may not have known because she was a young child. Seeing as how her mom would send her out to this cabin, she had to be younger than 12 because her mother passed away when she was 12. My Granny was born in 1906. However, she could remember her daddy hiding out in the woods for months because he didn't want to take part in the court system. Apparently he either found or built a cabin to live in and my granny and her brothers closest in age to her (Delas and Dave) would take food out to him from time to time. I always thought this was odd and wished she could remember what court case was going on and why he wouldn't be part of it.
