According to Aunt Betty, he left home and went out west. When he returned home his was not right. He died of pneumonia in the Asylum in Knoxville. They diagnosed him with paranoid schizophrenia. Mary Jane Lindsay Reed was our great grandmother. Aunt Betty said that she was a very sweet, demure, Christian lady. She was very soft spoken and very pleasant. She endured a lot of troubles in her lifetime. She was abandoned by our great grandfather. She was left to fend for herself and children. He carried on with another woman and had a child with the other woman. I am sure that you know this. The haunting feeling that you might have experienced when you viewed her headstone might be because the picture was taken late in life. Her troubles and trials were never spoken of by her. My aunt said that Mary Jane never dwelled on the past. She was bright and cheerful right up to her death. She praised God with every thought and action in her life. She trusted that God was holding her hand and taking care of her. I am curious. You said that you have seen ghosts. Who were they? I was just wondering. Many people say that they have seen ghosts and have been contacted from beyond the grave with messages for the living. Did this happen to you?
