    3. Dear Cora: None of my cemetery books show a Jane Carroll buried anywhere. Actually, that is not entirely true. She is not buried in the mountains. I am looking at Volume 4 of my set and that is the one that has all the cemeteries over Peabody Mtn. There are three more in the set that show all the ones up the valley, in town, down around Jacksboro, Caryville, Stony Fork, etc., so she could possibly be buried somewhere else. Several of our relatives from "over the Mtn." are buried at Woodlawn, here in LaFollette. So that is not beyond the realm of possibility. I see several James Carrolls in different cemeteries, but not one Jane. Could she have been buried under any other last name than Carroll? Or in another cemetery in a different part of Campbell County? 3. Hi Libby, we know for sure that James C. and she left Tennessee for a short time and he was working in the Coal Mines. We guess that maybe by the dates of the coal mines that maybe they settled in Harlan or Hazard maybe. Have been looking there for years-no luck. Someone even suggested that they divorced.( Not likely, possible I guess) but the girls were raised by Morning mostly and it is said that Jane died in childbirth after Sarah in 1882 or 1883. I believe all the girls were born in cc. Thanks for your help. 3. Just to cover a wider area, I checked cemetery records for Scott County, too, and did not find her. I'm afraid we have lost a lot of burial records due to the use of field stones - and markers that have sunk or been covered by overgrowth. Good luck with the hunting.
