    3. Regarding Hall Cemetery – My husband and I visited Campbell County 2 (maybe 3)years ago in the spring and found Hall Cemetery. My GGGrandparents, Elihu & Isabell Wilburn are buried there. We spent the night in Jellico right off 75 and drove across Pine Mountain to Hall Cemetery, a beautiful drive. My GGranddad, James Wilburn was born in (or should I say on) Pine Mountain. Anyway, the cemetery was in pretty good shape when we visited. Most of it was cut nicely, there were a few “soft” areas, so if you visit watch your step. And, we did see several large snake holes, but no snakes. I did not notice any damage to the cemetery from roads…maybe I just didn’t see that part of it. Elilhu Wilburn is MorningWilburn Carroll’s brother. Pictures of Morton & Morning Carroll’s headstones can be found online….check the following web site. (I think that’s the site I found the pics.) 3. Hi Evelyn: I was not talking about the Hall Cemetery. I was talking about the old Lowe cemetery, down the road from the Hall. I was telling the lady that asked that her Carrolls were buried in the Hall Cemetery, where all our Smiddys, Branams, Ayers, etc. are also buried. My husband and I mow as much of it as we can all summer. Other families mow their own plots too, so the Hall is usually in good condition, and I have "never" seen a snake in it, although my sister-in-law did step on a black snake up there one time. I have been there hundreds of times and never seen one. But you are right. There are holes that one could fall in and break a leg. I put up some stakes to try and mark them, so nobody would fall into one. 3. Hi Cora: Most of our relative are buried at the Hall. We were up there just yesterday (Easter Sunday), to bury our Aunt Almedia Bolton Smiddy. It was snowing a little and so cold. It seems like there is not any other place that is colder in the winter, or hotter in the summer, than the Hall Cemetery!! Probably just because we are usually mowing and weed-eating in the summer! My question is about your Morning Wilburn Carroll. Our 4X gr.grandfather, Jonathan "Babe" Branam, who is also buried at the Hall, was said to have been married to a lady by that same name, after his first wife died. Was your Morning ever married to anyone other than Morton Carroll, Jr.? Thank you for the comments on the condition of the Hall Cemetery. Bobby and I used to try to mow it on our own, but it is too much for one couple. Several of the families mow their own areas, so it is easier on us and other who also mow up there to try and get the whole thing done. The reason I put up the stake at that one place was that I, myself, fell into that hole and almost broke a leg. I don’t even want to think what my foot was resting on, since my entire leg was down there!! Also, I got covered with ants that came pouring out, when I fell in. I knew someone else would do the same thing, so I put up that stake to try and warn them. An elderly person could easily break a leg or hip doing that. Thankfully, I am not to that point yet, so I just had a few bruises, but I got out of that hole FAST! LOL I would be very interested to know more about your Morning Carroll. I have no idea exactly how many times Papaw Babe Branam was married, and it could have been to another lady by the same name, but I would like to find the truth of that marriage, and which Morning Wilburn Carroll was. By the way, I have seen it spelled "Mourning" also.
