From The Oak Ridger 22 Nov 2004 Morris Evan Adkisson, 71, of Wartburg, Lawrence Perry, 86, of Lake City, Stephen Wheeler Williams, 58, of Oak Ridge, Morris Evan Adkisson, 71, of Wartburg, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Roane Medical Center. Born on Feb. 20, 1933, in Morgan County, he was the son of Evan Adkisson and Sadie Thornton Adkisson. He was a lifelong resident of East Tennessee. Mr. Adkisson was a self-employed businessman who owned and operated convenience stores. He also was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Darren Lynn Adkisson. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Wentworth and husband, Richard, of Allardt; his son, Gregory Shawn Adkisson of Clinton; his grandchildren, Brandon, Logan and Sierra Wentworth; his brothers, Garnet Adkisson of the Stephens community in Morgan County, and Ray Adkisson of Coalfield; and his sister, Brenda Nelson of Oliver Springs. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and extended family members. The family was to receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral was to follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Ivey officiating. Burial was to follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Oliver Springs Highway. Lawrence Perry, 86, of Lake City, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Feb. 19, 1918, in McCreary County, Ky., he was the son of Adam Perry and Laura Kidd Perry. Mr. Perry was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church in Briceville. He was in the Army Air Corps, where he served in the 11th Bombardment Group in the South Pacific. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Williams Perry, to whom he had been married for 58 years, as well as his sister, Elsie Sumner, and brothers Roscoe, Elmer, Lester and Kenneth Perry. He is survived by his daughter, MaryLee and husband, Bobby Hooks, of Lake City; his brother, Dewey Perry; his sisters, Sue Carroll of Tucker, Ky., and Lucille Perry of Oklahoma; his sister-in-law, Ovida Williams of Seymour; several special nieces and nephews; and a special pet, Cricket. The funeral was at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, in the chapel of the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel; the Rev. Tim Russell and the Rev. Donnie Disney officiated. Graveside service was to be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City. Stephen Wheeler Williams, 58, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Sept. 29, 1946, in Dyer County, he graduated from Dyersburg High School and received an undergraduate degree in education at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He earned his master's degree in guidance at Memphis State. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he was a teacher for the Department of Defense in Goosebury, Labrador, Canada. He retired from teaching in 1996. He was a father, son, brother, friend and counselor. Mr. Williams is survived by his mother, Inez Williams; a son, Brock; a daughter and son-in-law, Stepheny and Stephen Andrews; sons Jesse and Joshua, and their mother, Melinda; a brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Kathy Williams; a sister, Kathy Keesee; and a nephew, Drew Keesee. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 23, 2004, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
