She was the wife of the late Dr. Walter H. Carr. A member of the Fincastle United Methodist Church and was very active in the Home Demonstration Club. She was well known for gardening, canning, and as a seamstress.She is survived by her sons, Walter Carr, Ft. Washington, MD, Phil Carr of Pinedale, WY, and Joe Carr of Crescent City, CA; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren; several other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Nov. 12 at Fincastle United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Cole officiating. Interment was at the Fincastle Methodist Church Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Robert E. Chapman Robert E. Chapman age 81 of LaFollette died Nov. 7 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Knoxville. He was a member of the Fincastle United Methodist Church for over 30 years. He was a long time local business man. He was in the 1st Marine division of the U.S. Marine corps WW2. He received several medals including the Purple Heart medal and Good Conduct medal. He participated in the invasion Guadalcanal and Palau. He was active in coaching little league baseball and basketball. Mr. Chapman was also an avid golfer and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Lizzie Paul Chapman, and 12 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Chapman of LaFollette; sons and daughters in law, Robert E. and Nancy Chapman Jr. of LaFollette, Curtis Lee and Sanae Chapman of Madisonville, and Charles Randall Chapman of Loudon; .sister, Helen Johnson; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and host of other relatives and friends.Funeral Services were Nov. 9 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Edith Douglas, age 74 of Cincinnati, OH formerly of LaFollette died Nov. 14 at Mt. Healthy Christian Home in Springfield Township, OH.She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hubert Douglas and Harold Conrad; parents, John William and Lula Frances Bruce. She was the devoted mother of Peggy Benne, Penny Weber, Pat Paul and Wayne Conrad; step-children, J.T., Gary, Ronnie and Dot; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, five step- grandchildren and four step great grandchildren; the dear sister of Austin Bruce and Margaret Kelly; special friend, Carol Weber Koetters; several other relatives and friends. Elmer Eschman, age 68 of Speedwell died Nov. 10 in Union County. He was born May 30, 1936 in Tennessee a son of the late Harry M. Eschman and Leatha Minton Eschman Thomas. He resided in Michigan for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Elmer Glenn Eschman. He is survived by his sons, Kurt and wife, Dawn Eschman of Muskegon, MI, Johnny and wife, Janene Moore of Walkerville, MI; daughter, LuSinda and husband, Richard Clark of Muskegon, MI; brothers, William C. and wife, Marion Eschman of Shelby, MI, Ronald and Tammy Eschman of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Volina Gray and Geneva and husband, Wesley Brooks of Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren and one great grandson. Cora Anne Goins, age 104 of LaFollette died Nov. 11 at Sunbridge Health and Rehabilitation Center of LaFollette. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Goins; parents, John and Martha Bailey; three brothers and three sisters, and one grandson.She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Boyd Goins and wife, Jean of LaFollette , Everette Goins and wife, Wilma of Jacksboro; five grandsons, one granddaughter, three great grandsons, four great granddaughters and two great-great granddaughters; sister, Nora Monday of Oliver Springs; several other relatives and friends.Funeral services were Nov. 13 with Rev. Fred Patrick Goodman, age 79 of Devonia died Nov. 11. He was born Nov. 13, 1924, he was the third son of Finley and Oshia Patterson Goodman. He was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Free Communion Baptist Church. He was a retired coal miner and an avid farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Billie Jo Goodman, Devonia; daughter, Kathy Burchfield, Oak Ridge; son, Keith Goodman, Devonia; mother in law, Hazel Phillips, Oak Ridge; brother and sister in law, Jay and Bobbie Coday, Lake City; grandchildren, Kim Seiber and husband, Doyle of Clinton; Chrissy Goodman and boyfriend, John Jones, Knoxville and Joe Burchfield of Nashville; he was also recently blessed with two great grandchildren, Marli Jones and Allison Seiber, both of whom were the joy of his life. Jerry Travis Mowery, age 24 of Crossville went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 11 at his home in Crossville. He was born Aug. 14, 1980 in Knox County to Jerry Mowery and Donna Lindsey Mowery. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, watching movies and playing games on his play station and was a member of Fratersville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. George R. Lindsay, Harvey S. Mowery, Patrisha and Deliah Mowery. Carl Edward Seiber, age 71 of Briceville died Nov. 14 at his residence. He was born Nov. 14, 1933 in Anderson County to the late Lawrence and Lucy Rutherford Seiber. He was a former Chief of the Briceville Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Jane Smith Seiber; two sons. Marion Louise Whitaker, age 90 of New Market and more recently of 104 Ridenour Lane, Jacksboro died Nov. 4 at the St. Mary's Health Care Center in LaFollette. She graduated from Maryville College and began a career in teaching in Jefferson County that spanned 45 years. She began teaching third grade in Strawberry Plains, she later taught high school home economics at New Market, middle school in Jefferson County and her teaching career ended at Jefferson County High School where she taught science. She thoroughly enjoyed her teaching career and her pupils. After the death of her mother, she kept house for her father until his death, after which she took on the many duties involved in farming. She drove the tractor, mowed hay, bush hogged and managed a herd of beef cattle. She had many hobbies such as sewing, knitting, tatting, reading genealogy and trying new recipes. She was a lifelong member of the Wooten Chapel United Methodist Church. She was always involved with her church and was a great student of the Bible, who shared her knowledge by teaching Sunday School. Somehow she acquired the reputation as the local historian of the community. She had intended to write a book with all the material she had collected. She was a national and international traveler and over the years she traveled extensively and kept a daily diary of her travel adventures. She has now made her last voyage, prepared to enter the gates of Heaven, the most important trip of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Fairy Wooten Whitaker; grandparents, Henry Clay and Sarah Waltz Whitaker and William T. and Sally B. Hodges Wooten. She is survived by her sister, Alice Whitaker Coker of Jacksboro; nephews, John Whitaker Coker who made his home with her on the Fairview Farm in New Market and Joseph Grant Coker and wife, Kemper Thomson Coker of LaFollette; great nieces, Nancy Ann Coker and Mary Alice Coker; great nephew, John Joseph Whitaker Coker, all of LaFollette.
