From The Knoxville News Sentinel 15 Oct 2004 Fred Patrick Goodman of Devonia Shasta Jean Hampton, 16, of Oliver Springs, Malisia Cooper Lard, 88, of Oak Ridge, Bonnie Marie Stansberry, 92, of Oak Ridge, Fred Patrick Goodman of Devonia passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004. He was 79. Born Nov. 13, 1924, he was the third son of Finley and Oshia Goodman, both deceased. A member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Free Communion Baptist Church, Mr. Goodman was a retired coal miner and an avid farmer. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Billie Jo Goodman; two children, Kathy Burchfield of Oak Ridge and Keith Goodman of Devonia; his mother-in-law, Hazel Phillips, now of Oak Ridge; his brother- and sister-in-law, Jay and Bobbie Coday of Lake City; three grandchildren, Kim Seiber and her husband, Doyle, of Clinton, Chrissy Goodman and her boyfriend, John Jones, of Knoxville, and Joe Burchfield of Nashville. He was also recently blessed with two great-granddaughters, Marli Jones and Allison Seiber, both of whom were the joy of his life. He is also survived by two very special extended family members, Rosemary Goodman of Oak Ridge and Gary Burchfield of Coalfield; three brothers and three sisters, all of Anderson County; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends, all whom were dear to his heart. A memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, in the chapel of Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Don Daugherty officiating. A private burial was held Sunday. Shasta Jean Hampton, 16, of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at East Tennessee Children's Hospital in Knoxville after a brief illness. Born Sept. 20, 1988, in Oak Ridge, Miss Hampton was the daughter of Jacqueline Randall of Oliver Springs and Tommy Hampton of Clinton. She attended Norwood Elementary School, and Oliver Springs High School during her freshman year of high school. She was currently being home schooled by her mother. In addition to her parents, Miss Hampton is survived by her sister, Page Vann and husband, Adam, of Oliver Springs; her brother, Mitchell Bowles of Oliver Springs; her paternal grandparents, Arbie Hampton and Joyce Ridenour, both of Rockwood; her maternal grandparents, Jack Page of Las Vegas, Nev., and Juanita Hollard and husband, Max, of Rockwood; her special nieces, Karrie Vann and Christian Vann of Oliver Springs; and her special friends Brent Smith and Johnny Pearson, along with many extended family members and friends. The funeral was held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Mack Smith officiating. Burial was Sunday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the Shasta Jean Hampton Memorial Fund, 209 Roane St., Oliver Springs, TN 37840. Malisia Cooper Lard, 88, of Oak Ridge, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at her residence. Born June 26, 1916, in Savannah, Tenn., she was the daughter of James E. and Rebecca Jane Cooper. She was a long-standing member of Robertsville Baptist Church and had a special love for children. She served in the 4-year-old Sunday School department for several years. She retired from McCroy Co. after 15 years as a stock clerk. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and telling stories to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.J. Lard, and several sisters and brothers. Mrs. Lard is survived by three sons, Keith A. Lard and wife, Sharon, of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Kenneth L. Lard and wife, Rosa Lee, of Cleveland, and Gary Lard of Oak Ridge; her sister, Dorothy Jones of Tallahassee, Fla.; and by seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rebecca Arwood, Dianna Bridges, Patty Fritts and Lisa Lard are considered special caregivers. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Garvan Walls and the Rev. Dr. Michael Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at the funeral home. An online register book is available at www.martinoakridgefuneralhome.com. Bonnie Marie Stansberry, 92, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004. The daughter of J.W. and Bertha Dudley, she was born in Blount County and grew up in Knoxville. She moved to Oak Ridge from Chattanooga in 1943 with her family. Mrs. Stansberry was active in First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved gardening and wild flowers. A favorite hobby was genealogy. She and her late husband, Alonzo Kelton Stansberry, spent many enjoyable hours tracing their family histories. At the time of her husband's death, they had been married for 69 years. Her greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, Alonzo Jr., her brothers, Curtis Dudley and Jay Dudley, and her sister, Nina Wright. Mrs. Stansberry is survived by her four sons, James R. Stansberry and wife, Linda, of Clinton, Jerome D. Stansberry and Charles T. Stansberry and wife, Sue, all of Oak Ridge, and David L. Stansberry and wife, Marilyn, of Charlotte, Tenn. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; her sister Dorothy Lee of Orlando, Fla.; her brother Boyd Dudley and wife, Jane, of Knoxville; and by special friend Roberta Newsom of Phoenix, Ala. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Ray Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at Weatherford Mortuary.
