JAMES A. (RET) - age 63 of Wartburg, passed away Monday, May 24, 2004 at his home following a long illness. He was preceded in death by: his father, Robert Lee Jackson; mother, Lilly Mae Jackson; brothers, Johnny Jackson, Paul David Jackson, and Billy Silcox; sister, Willa Mae Jackson. He was retired from the U.S. Army after serving 23 years including two tours in Vietnam. He was a Master Mason with the Hudson River Lodge, #607 in New York and a member of the American Legion (Galloway Post) in Newburgh, NY. He is survived by: his wife, Diana Jackson of Wartburg; children, Donna Wallace of Columbia, Maryland, Elisha Biggs of Maryville, TN, Abra Youmans of Modena, NY, Charles Jackson of New Windsor, NY; step-children, Heather Myers of Lancing, TN, Angela Ralston of Ft. Bragg, NC, Micheal Lynch of Modena, NY; grandchildren, Andrew, Todd, Matthew, Dane, Corey, John David, Jacob, Matthew, Owen, Jacob, Emily, Marinda, Jenna; sisters, Bobbie Jean Blankenship, Cincinnati, Ohio, Sue Kivett of Mossy Grove, Betty Armes of Wartburg, Leona Hale of Oliver Springs, Mary Armes of Joyner, TN; brothers, Kenneth Jackson of Coalfield, Robert Jackson of Wartburg, Troy Jackson of Coalfield; step-mother, Edith Jackson of Coalfield. The family will receive friends Thursday Afternoon, May 27, 2004 from 1-3 pm at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Interment with full military honors will be held on Friday, 11:30 am in the Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery, Knoxville. PARROTT, DR. ELMER L. CAPT. U.S. ARMY (RETIRED) - Native Knoxvillian, WWII Veteran US Army Reserve Officer, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. Born July 10, 1905 in North Knoxville, and reared in Park City and attended Park City Grammar School. At the end of WW I started ROTC training at the age of Fourteen and remained in the ROTC in Knoxville High School and the University. During WW II served from 1942 to 1946 in Africa, Italy and France. He was discharged from US Army in 1953 by President Eisenhower. Leaving his Private Practice of Medicine in Illinois in 1955, returned to Tennessee and worked for Union Carbide in Oak Ridge and TVA in Knoxville in Occupational Medicine. He was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church and former member of Masters Lodge #244 F&AM and Pearl Chapter #24 of the Royal Arch Masons, was President of Norris AARP and TVA Retires Association. He is preceded in death by: mother, Mary League Parrott; and dad, John C. Parrott; sisters, Curenna Lawson and Marie Lawson, Anna Heiser; and first wife Gussie Sawyer Parrott. Survived by: wife, Mildred Parrott Oak Ridge; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Judy Parrott, Knoxville; nieces, Clara McGill, Knoxville, Margaret Smith and Anna Heiser, Columbia, SC; nephews, David Lawson, Columbia, SC and Robert Lawson of Florida. The Parrott family would like to give a special thanks to Private Sitter Elder Care for their devoted care throughout his long illness. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Wednesday for an 11:00 am graveside service at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Rev. Jim Whedbee and Mr. John Needy officiating. Active Pallbearers: Richard Parrott, Raymond and Randall Sawyer, Dan Easterly, Mark Lawson, Paul Davis, Russell McGill and Herb Stedman. The family will greet friends following the service at the Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Friends may call at their convenience at Gentry-Griffey Chapel. WASHBURN, MONTANA - age 78 of Coalfield, passed away May 8, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospice. She was born December 7, 1925 in Morgan County. Preceded in death by husband, Hayes W. Ridge. Survivors: daughters, Montie Sue Olmstead & Mona Ridge Colley. Graveside services were held May 10, 2004 at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
