CATHERINE JONES age 57, of Clinton, CLAIBORNE, GEORGE L. - of Knoxville, formerly of Lafollette, TN, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\ BROOKS, LAURA S. - 79, of Asheville, NC, died Tuesday evening, May 4, 2004 at the Givens Health Center of Asheville after a period of declining health. Born in Clinton, TN, she was the daughter of the late Cas Bratcher Seivers and Bessie White Seivers. Before moving to Buncombe County, NC, four years ago, she had resided in Knoxville, TN. She retired in 1990 from the Baptist Book Store in Knoxville, TN, after 30 years of service. She was an active member of Meridian Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving family, one son, Robbie I. Brooks and his wife, Sandra B., of Anderson, SC; one brother, Henry Seivers, and one sister, Evelyn King, both of Clinton, TN; two grandsons, Stephen Scott Brooks and his wife, Gina, of Anderson, SC, and Michael Alan Brooks of Hendersonville, NC; three great- granddaughters, the twins, Lauren and Sydney Brooks and their sister, Alyssa Brooks; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3 pm Friday, May 7, 2004, at Meridian Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN, with burial following at the church cemetery. The Reverend Dana Fachman will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 - 3 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Meridian Baptist Church, 6513 Chapman Hwy., Knoxville, TN 37920. Shuler Funeral Home of Hendersonville, NC, is in charge of arrangements. DAMEWOOD, M. CATHERINE JONES age 57, of Clinton, died Wednesday morning May 5, 2004 at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. She was a Baptist and an employee of BWXT at Y-12 in Oak Ridge for 17 years. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Wilburn and Willie Faye Sutherland Jones; and a son, Brian Damewood. She is survived by: her son, Jeff Damewood; grandchildren, Jeffrey & Jesse Damewood; sisters and brothers, Ruthell Allen, Louise Clark, Sylvia Calfee, Rickey Jones, Teresa Billips, Darlene Martin, and Tim Jones; and several nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks to her many friends at BWXT. Funeral service 7:30 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev. Jerry Copeland officiating. Family and friends will meet at Anderson Memorial Gardens Saturday for a 12 noon interment service. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:30 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. CLAIBORNE, GEORGE L. - of Knoxville, formerly of Lafollette, TN, prepared for his upward flight on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Fort Sanders Medical Center. He was a member of Bush Grove Baptist Church until his health prevented him from attending. At the age of 22 he joined the Army. After being discharged he was employed with Tennessee Armature until he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Estella Claiborne; his loving wife, Myrtle Claiborne; son, Steven Costner. He leaves to celebrate his homegoing: son, Timothy (Susan) Claiborne of Yonkers( NY), Michael (Anita) Claiborne, John Claiborne of Knoxville; daughters, Georgetta (Eddie) Anderson of Munford (AL), Wilma Claiborne and Kimberly (Anthony) Maples of Knoxville; sister, Emma Miller; brother, Henry (Mary Katherine) Claiborne; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will be receiving friends Friday, May 7, 2004 at Highland South Memorial Park from 2:00 until 3:00 PM with the funeral to follow. Reverend Walter C. Shumpert officiating.
