Jerry: Found Lizzie: Parrott, Lizzie age 77 b. Claiborne Co. Fa: Allen Parrott b. TN mo: Sallie Hyslap b. TN d. 1944 DEATH CERTIFICATE # 7312 You can send 3 dollars per name with the above information and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Cleveland Library at: Cleveland Public Library History Branch 833 Ocoee Street Cleveland, TN 37311 My book stops at 1946 so John wasn't in there. However you can try the Cleveland library since you have his death date and you know he died in Campbell Co. They ought have it as the Vital records office says their records start at 1953 (you can write them first though at hbranch@clevelandlibrary.org to see if their records go that far. If they don't then you'll have to contact the Tennesse Vital Records. They allow you to order online but it costs a lot more. Their website address is: http://www2.state.tn.us/health/vr/index.htm . They also offer forms online that you can download then print out and mail to them. It's a bit cheaper.) I found a marriage record: Name: ALLEN PARRETT Spouse: SARAH HYSLEP Marriage Date: 10 Dec 1854 County: Claiborne State: TN There is an Allen Parrott in Claiborne in 1880 and Elizabeth is 15: Name: Allen PARRETT Age: 54 Estimated birth year: <1826> Birthplace: Tennessee Occupation: Farmer Relation: Self Home in 1880: District 1, Claiborne, Tennessee Marital status: Married Race: White Gender: Male Head of household: Allen PARRETT Father's birthplace: NC Mother's birthplace: VA Image Source: Year: 1880; Census Place: District 1, Claiborne, Tennessee; Roll: T9_1247; Family History Film: 1255247; Page: 104A; Enumeration District: 103; Claiborne 1870 and Elizabeth is in his household age 4: Name: Allen Parrot Age in 1870: 45 Estimated Birth Year: 1824 Birthplace: Tennessee Home in 1870: District 1, Claiborne, Tennessee Race: White Gender: Male Value of real estate: View Image Post Office: Speedwell Roll: M593_1518 Page: 204 Image: 408 Year: 1870 I checked the 1900 census and found a Lizzie Parrott in Campbell says she was born June 1876 and was widowed. She worked as a laundress. Her children were John Feb 1890 who worked as a farm helper; George July 1893; Maggie March 1896; James April 1900. None of her children were educated even though she could read and write. I also found her in the index for 1910: Parret, Elizeabeth Age: 43 Gender: F Race: W Birthplace: TN State: Tennessee County: CAMPBELL Locale: JELLICO PCT Series: T624 Roll: 1492 Part: 2 Page: 75A Her children are still at home with her and John and George are coal miners. You may want to try court records to see if there was a divorce for her as I found a marriage record in Campbell for Parrott, Elizabeth Spouse : Ivey, William Marriage date : Mar 1, 1886 County : Campbell Gender : Female Source : County Court Records Microfilm Number : 0979202 - 0979207 There is a William M. Ivy in Campbell in 1900 and get this he was born Feb. 1864 and says he's widowed! He worked as a servant for Robert Hill and there were no children etc with Ivey in the household. Many times if there was a divorce I know the women would say they were widowed because divorce was a stigma to the older women (Kate Summers claimed widowhood after her and Lorenzo Summers had split up ... but he was alive and well with his new MUCH YOUNGER wife...guess this adds to the meaning of "they are dead to me" phrase). I hope this helps! Bonnie PS: one of my Wright woman married a Parrot--Orris Parrot son of Thomas.
