From The Knoxville News Sentinel 17 May 2004 GILLOCK, RUTH McLEMORE HARDIN ZEDLER, MARGARET (VIVIAN) JACOX - of Oak Ridge, GILLOCK, RUTH McLEMORE HARDIN - was born in Savannah, Tennessee on December 10, 1905, the daughter of the late Gipson Hardin and Della Allison Hardin. Mrs. Gillock worked for Tennessee Eastman Corporation - Y12 Plant, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. During the war years, she worked for the Oak Ridge School System. Mrs. Gillock lived in Savannah until 1943 and moved to Oak Ridge, TN. with her husband until his death, and moved back to Savannah, TN in 1996. Mrs. Gillock was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, TN and attended The First Methodist Church of Savannah, TN. She was also a member of The Eastern Star, the Business and President of The Women's Club, and The Order of the Amaranth. Mrs. Gillock departed this life on May 15, 2004 at The Hardin County Nursing Home at the age of 98 years, 5 months and 5 days. She is survived by: one son, Rev. Edgar Hardin Gillock of Savannah, Tennessee; one daughter, Mary Julia Gillock Hoppe of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; one sister, Maude Cragg of Savannah, Tennessee. Mrs. Gillock was preceded in death by: one half-sister, Sally Brandon; 3 half-brothers, Charlie Hardin, Will Hardin, and Martin Hardin; 3 brothers, Glen Hardin, Jack Hardin and Tom Hardin; two sisters, Edith Shull and Mildred Bowling. Services were held Monday 17, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Savannah, with Will Wells and Rev. Ed Gillock officiating. Burial in the Savannah Cemetery. ZEDLER, MARGARET (VIVIAN) JACOX - of Oak Ridge, died on May 14, 2004 at the Methodist Medical Center. She was born in Modesto, California, the daughter of the late Floyd and Ethel Jacox. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a Certified Professional Secretary, and a former employee of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory as the Senior Secretary to the Director of the Instrumentation and Controls Division. She had served as an Advisory Committee Member of the Oak Ridge Girls Home and to the Business Department of Roane State Community College. Her interest was in history of American Wars; particularly, WWI. Preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Zedler, October 2000 and by her sister, Doris Slaughter of Oak Ridge, 1991. She is survived by her brother, Donald C. Jacox, Morganton, NC; sister, Joanne J. Lovelace, (Mrs. L.R.) of Staunton, VA; brother-in-law, Gerald M. Slaughter, Oak Ridge; nephew, Richard G. Slaughter, Kissimmee, FL and wife, Lydia L. Slaughter; niece, Donna Slaughter McKinley and husband, Kevin F. McKinley and their three daughters, Marina, Liana, and Camilla McKinley nephew, Graham Lovelace, Jackson Hole, WY; niece, Rebecca Lovelace Dellinger and husband, Billy Dellinger, Staunton, VA and Amanda and Heather Gardner. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary on Monday, 8 PM with Rev. Kerra Becker-English officiating. Private interment will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests memorials be sent to The Visual Support Group in care of John Cathcart, 4609 Clinch View Ln., Solway, TN 37931.
