White, age 93 of Jacksboro Janice Hope Bunch, age 53 of Rockmart, Ga died June 7 at the Floyd Medical Center. She was born May 17, 1951 in Jellico to James L. Bunch and Marjorie M. Head Bunch. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her son, Dwayne Ramey , Rockmart, Ga; mother, Marjorie H. Head, Stockbridge, Ga; sisters, Betty Jo Newton, Stockbridge, Ga, Mary Barfield, Atlanta, Ga. A private memorial service was held June 19 at 1 p.m. Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. William "Bill" Dabney, age 79 of Lake City, formerly of Oak Ridge died June 10 at the Lake City Health Care Center. He was born July 17, 1924 in Anderson County to the late William Burley and Alice Duncan Dabney. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Thelma Hendren, Hazel Hall and Marie Sharp; brothers, Owen Dabney and Eldred "Mutt" Dabney. Survivors include his sister, Aline Martin, Lake City; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were June 11 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Martin, Rev. Wayne Phillips and Rev. Mike Harbin officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Alma Lucille "Lucy" Ellis, age 37 of Oak Ridge died June 7. Preceded in death by her father, Richard Polland. Survivors include her husband, Don Ellis; sons, Gene Smith and Charles Smith; daughter, Shanda Smith; grandchildren, Jalyn, Dominick, Victoria and Erick; mother, Rita Weir Moulas, all of Oak Ridge; step-children, Eric Ellis, Oliver Springs, Jessica Ellison, Alabama. Funeral services were June 11 at Cross Funeral Home with Rev. John E. Wiseman officiating. Interment was in the Jacksboro Cemetery. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Clyde Roy Gunter, age 70 of Caryville died June 8 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born Feb. 14, 1934 in Campbell County to the late Willis and Mary Wilson Gunter. He attended the Kenneth Ivey Evangelistic Assoc. Faith Church in Clinton. He loved watching TV, golf, singing, restoring cars and playing cards. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elbert, Edley and Arnold Gunter; sisters, Velma, Allene, Odessie and Sylvia Gunter, Selma Wilson, Irene Bunch and Beulah Jones. Survivors include his daughters, Patricia and husband, Donald Copelin, Elaine Gunter, both of Red Boiling Springs, Tn; son, Aaron and wife, Pam Gunter, Hendersonville; seven grandchildren; brothers, Billy and wife, Joy Gunter, Lake City, Arthur and wife, Bonnie Gunter, Mi; sisters, Connie and George McNeil, Mi, Flonnie Inman, LaFollette; Angelist Gunter, Mi. Colonel John Calvin Haygood, age 86, beloved husband of Juanita Yoakum Byrd-Haygood died June 14 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter. He was born in Cameron, TX, the son of the late John W. and Clara Seale Haygood. He attended public school in Cameron, TX. After completing R.O.T.C. training at Allen Military Academy in Bryan, TX, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant, US Army. He graduated from the US Army Air Corps pilot training in 1941. During World War II his duties included flying in fighter units, command and staff positions in squadrons, group and wing headquarters organizations in the US and South West Pacific. His assignments to duties with the Texas Air National Guard, Alaskan Air Command, jet fighter units and Tactical Air Command followed. During his career he logged 4400 hours of flying time. He flew the P-80, F-86, F-84, F-94, F-89, F-100 and F-10's. He served early in the Vietnam conflict. After returning to the states he completed his military career as Inspector General, 9th Air Force, and Tactical Air Command at Shaw Air Force Base. The highest of his military decorations was the Legion of Merit. He was a member of the Holy Cross Church in Stateburg where he had served as a former lay leader. Preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Mode Haygood; sister, Ellen Bess Reeder. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Kathleen Haygood Fox, Niceville, Fl and Laura Haygood Kessler and husband, Charles of Sumter, SC; step-daughter, Pamela G. Jacob and husband, Peter of Sumter, SC; step-sons, H.G. Byrd and wife Sandra of Tyler, TX; Lanny Byrd and wife Paula of Huntsville, Al and Andrew C. Byrd, Columbia, SC; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one step great-grandchild. Funeral services will be June 17 at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Bridges and Pastor Ron Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in the Church of the Holy Cross Cemetery in Statesburg. Pallbearers will be H.G. Byrd, Andrew Byrd, Lanny Byrd, Adam Fox and Calvin Rosenberg. Honorary Pallbearers will be Allan Brookes, Billy Campbell, Dan Turbeville, Tom Waters, Bob Mahon, Jack Rhame, Raymond Schwartz, Adrian Burrows, Jim Peters and Samuel Fiorini. Lil Marlow, age 66 of DeKalb, Ill died June 8 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb. She was born Nov. 19, 1937 in Clairfield, the daughter of Bill and Mary (Lowe) Davis. She married Peter Marlow on July 11, 1952 and are now back together again after his passing in Dec. 1998. She was employed by Spaulding Composites in DeKalb for many years. She will be missed by her loving family. Preceded in death by her husband, Pete; parents; five brothers; two sisters. He was a member of the Straight Fork Baptist Church. Mr. Lay enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, flea marketing, he enjoyed all the great outdoors especially ginsenging. Preceded in death by two wives, Helen Cleo Neal and Bertie Overbay Allen; parents, Thomas Frank and Edna Bell Wright Lay; brothers: Esaw and Luther Lay; sisters, Lucy and Christine Lay. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Edward Ray and Lynnetta Lay of Pioneer; step-children, Linda Whited of Jacksboro, Rita Ward of Crossville, and Homer Allen of KY; grandchildren, Daniel Ray Lay; Amanda and husband, Rocky Bowling; Rebecca Lay and fiancée , Ryan Lowe all of Pioneer; great grandchildren, Jadrien Buttram and Tanya Montana Lowe; sisters, Sylvania Sexton and Mildred Bolton both of Jacksboro; special nieces, Cindy Holman and Tonya Gross; several more nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was a farmer all of his life. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Janie Shepherd Maxwell; brothers, Corbit and Clarence Maxwell; sisters, Mary Boruff, Ruth Chadwell, Corie Ivey, and Georgie Coghill. Survived include his wife, Eva Maxwell; son, Richard Maxwell; brothers, Bill, Ernest, and Forster Maxwell all of LaFollette; a host of other relatives and friends. Ellen Lee Lamb Patterson, age 85 of Lake City went to her new home with the Lord on June 11 where she joined her husband, J.C. She was a Sunday school teacher, a Monday school leader, a precious mother and the family Bible scholar. Her life was devoted to her husband and children. She loved to garden, cook, and enjoyed life to its fullest. Hers was a testimony of her love for Christ. She will be greatly missed in her church and community. She was born May 15, 1919. She was a member of the Clinch River Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, John "J.C" Patterson whom she was married to for 65 years. Survivors include her daughter, Diane Haun and husband, Doug; sons, Johnny Patterson and wife, Ann, Steve Patterson and wife, Paula, Tim Patterson and wife, Brenda; grandchildren, Derek and Tammy Sharp, Barry and Margie Haun, Amy and Forrest Sowell, Stephanie and Mike Kirk, John and Patty Patterson, Lori Patterson, Tracey and Eric Smith, Doug and Stephanie Patterson, April Rollins, Jatai and Josh Smith, Amanda and Matt Melton, Justin Haun, T.J. He was born March 28, 1938 in Stainville, Tn to the late Elzick and Martha Phillips. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willard, Clyde and Avery Phillips. Survivors include special friend, Janie Mohnacky, Ravenna, Oh; nephews, Michael Phillips, Edward Phillips, Kenny Phillips, Allen Phillips; niece, Eula Beeler; sister-in-laws, Fleta Phillips, Eva Phillips, Betty Phillips. Claude M. White, age 93 of Jacksboro died June 13 at St Mary's Health and Rehab of LaFollette. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had retired from Chrysler Corporation after several years. He loved working in his garden and woodshop. Preceded in death by his wife, Marie Sparks White; son, James Garland White; parents, James and Ida Allen White; brothers, Dewey, Conley, Hasten and Curtis White; sisters, Rushie Hill, Bedie Kitts, Mossie Bailey, June Wilhoit and Dovie Comer Stanford; son-in-law, Robert Haley. Survivors include his son and wife, Claude Edwin and Nancy White of North East, MD; daughters, Loretta O. Haley of Richmond, VA, Betty L.
