From The Knoxville News Sentinel 8 Jun 2004 BARNA, JAMES IMRE, SR. - of Oneida, Tennessee JENKINS, OTHA THOMAS - age 61 of 109 Mohawk Lane, Clinton, OWENS, ALMA LEE - age 73, of Clinton, TN SHEEHAN, KAYLA - age 15, of Clinton WHITFIELD, ELIAS WELBORN JR. age 79, of Oak Ridge, TN, BARNA, JAMES IMRE, SR. - of Oneida, Tennessee passed away suddenly on June 5, 2004 in Oneida. Born January 1, 1947 in Szeged Hungary, he escaped with his family to the United States in 1956 when the communist overthrew Hungary. Jim became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1965 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as an Army Airborne Ranger in Vietnam from 1967-1968. He was a citizen of Scott County, Tennessee since 1976. The founder and owner of Jim Barna Log Systems, Jim was elected to the Scott County Hall of Fame as an outstanding business leader on November 11, 2003. He was very committed to giving back to the community in support of the school systems and local community organizations. Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oneida and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5669 of Oneida. He was preceded in death by his sister, Christina Barna and his mother, Isabella Barna. He is survived by one son, James I. Barna, Jr. (Jimmy) and wife Leslee M. Barna of Oneida, Tennessee; his father, Laszlo Barna, Sr. of Hungary; one brother, Laszlo Barna, Jr. of Hungary; one sister, Isabella Barna of Avon Lake, Ohio; one granddaughter; Isabell Mae Barna, daughter of Jimmy and Leslee Barna of Oneida; and his nephew, Andrew Barna of St. Augustine, Florida; three step- children, Grace, Jessica, and Tommy Festian. Jim is also survived by many other relatives, friends, and loyal employees. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 11, 2004 at 5 P.M. at The First Baptist Church of Oneida with Dr. Doug White officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 A.M. until time of the funeral services at 5 P.M. Preceded in death by: parents, Otha Ollie and Louise Hicks Jenkins. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church. He was a contractor with the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years. Member of Unaka Masonic Lodge # 651. OWENS, ALMA LEE - age 73, of Clinton, TN passed away Sunday, June 6, 2004 at NHC Health Care Center in Oak Ridge, TN. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 8, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN. with funeral service following at 8:00 pm in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with the Rev. SHEEHAN, KAYLA - age 15, of Clinton passed away Sunday, June 6, 2004. She had just finished her freshman year at Anderson County High School where she was part of the color guard, winter guard, track team, band, swimming & dance. She enjoyed helping people & was always there when someone needed her. Kayla was greatly loved & will be missed by all that knew her. She was born October 23, 1988 in Brevard, North Carolina. He was a Veteran of WWII, of the US Army, 1866th Unit, had a Bachelor's Degree from Tennessee Technological University, was a member of Kern Memorial United Methodist Church, Past Exaled Ruler, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks-1684. Survivors: his wife of 53 years, June Smith Whitfield; son, Elias Welborn (Sonny) Whitfield III and wife Debbie Whitfield; daughter, June Denise (Bunny) Burgess and husband Dr. John Burgess; brother, Patrick H.
