    1. Thomas B. Smith, Son of Thomas M. Smith
    2. THOMAS B. SMITH was born November 17, 1861 in Whitley Co, KY, and died April 27, 1863 in Campbell Co TN. Notes for THOMAS B. SMITH: Thomas B. Smith was the youngest child born to Thomas M. and Charlotte Cordell Smith. He was born November 17, 1861, Whitley Co, KY. His mother died nine months later, August 6, 1862, Whitley Co, KY. He died eight months after her death, April 27, 1863, Whitley co, KY, at age 17 months. I wonder if she was with child when she died or if there was an outbreak of something to cause the deaths. Of course, this was during the Civil War time period. Five months after Charlotte's death, Thomas married Delphia Hackler, January 14, 1863, Campbell Co, TN. So Delphia was raising the infant, Thomas. They had already moved to the Jellico area of Campbell Co, TN. He is buried in the Zion Hill Cemetery, Pine Knot, Whitley Co, KY, along side his Mother. ================================================================= Zion Hill Cemetery, (Near Pine Knot), Whitley Co., KY. Located in Whitley County, only one-tenth of a mile from the McCreary County line. In this cemetery rests the forefathers of many early McCrearians. After crossing Jellico Creek, go half-mile to an unimproved road that goes NNE away from Capuchin Cr. You're near the mouth of Capuchin, where it flows into Jellico Creek. The cemetery is on the first level ground NNE of Capuchin and up a hill above a small branch that flows into Capuchin from Wolf Knob area. The total distance from Pine Knot is about 10 miles. There are 223 unmarked graves here. I would welcome any information about people that are known to be buried here in unmarked graves. We need to try to identify as many as possible.
