From The Oak Ridger 30 Jun 2004 Teba Lee "Granny" Burgess, 83, of the Stephens community, Anna Mae Hawkins, 70, of Knoxville, Teba Lee "Granny" Burgess, 83, of the Stephens community, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of Stephens Baptist Church. According to her family, she enjoyed her family, friends, cooking, gardening, flowers, canning, making quilts, collecting teapots and dolls. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lorene Rogers; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doc Lee; three sisters, Ruby, Hester and Jessie May; and by her brother, Sherman Lee. She is survived by eight children, Margaret Hall and Mary Campasino and husband, Jim, all of Oak Ridge, Robert Burgess and wife, Wanda, and Kenneth Burgess and wife, Jackie, all of the Joyner community, Jimmy Burgess and wife, Gail, and Connie Duncan and husband, Paul, all of Wartburg, Johnny Burgess and wife, Marsha, of Oakdale, and Jackie Burgess of Oliver Springs; her special friend, Lisa Duncan, of Oliver Springs; and by 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her family said she was loved and will be missed by family and friends. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at Stephens Baptist Church with Harold Dean Ross officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 4, at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Anna Mae Hawkins, 70, of Knoxville, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at her residence. Mrs. Hawkins was born and raised by her grandmother in Orangeburg, S.C. She was a member of McDonald Drive Church of Christ. She was employed at Loveman's in Oak Ridge, Miller's in Knoxville, and in her later years she volunteered at St. Mary's Health Systems. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Hamilton and Lillie Belle Caulter; her grandmother, Anna Hamilton; and by four brothers, John Hamilton, Wilbert Hamilton, Charlie Hamilton and Bobby Hamilton. Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Hawkins Jr.; four daughters, Magnolia Robinson and Delores Robinson, both of New York, and Audrey Jackson and husband, Thom, and Shawn Canty and husband, Paul, all of Knoxville; eight grandchildren, Windell, Solonzo, Mitchell and Jamie, all of New York, and Shanta, Andre, Candice and Dominic, all of Knoxville; two great-grandchildren, Christian and Trenton, both of New York; and by several other relatives and friends from Oak Ridge, South Carolina, New York and Knoxville. The funeral will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004, at McDonald Drive Church of Christ, located at 3800 McDonald Road in Knoxville, with the Rev. Van Hardin officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. The family will assemble at 5925 Loice Lane. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.
