Rainey, 79, of Oliver Springs, Kenneth "Goard Kerr" Williams, 78, of Clinton, William Talmadge Young Sr. of Oak Ridge Jessie B. Bowan died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of Oak Valley Baptist Church. She is survived by her sister, Wonzie Jones, of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren, Norma Ward, Gordon Ward, Victor "Jackie" Threat and Gregory "Deanna" Ward; and by five great-grandchildren and several other relatives and friends. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Oak Valley Baptist Church, 194 Hampton Road, with the Rev. Hardil Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Unity Mortuary in Knoxville is in charge of arrangements. Thomas Henderson Cooper, 80, of Clinton, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at Windwood Health and Rehab Center in Clinton. Born Oct. 27, 1923, in Campbell County, he was the son of James M. and Mary Emily Johnson Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a member of First Baptist Church in Clinton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He retired from the shipping department at Link Belt in Indianapolis, Ind. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Travis Cooper, and by a sister, Ada Harmon. Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eula Magill Cooper; two daughters, Sharon Jewett and husband, Doug, of Stuart, Fla., and Margaret Knack and husband, Joe, of Bartlett; and his son, Gary Thomas Cooper and wife, Karen, of Clinton. He is also survived by a sister, Esta Ridenour, of LaFollette; a brother, James Cooper and wife, Betty, of Clinton; nine grandchildren, Melissa Jewett and Laura Jewett, both of Stuart, Brian Knack, David Knack and Amy Knack, all of Bartlett, John Cooper and Denise Cooper, both of Houston, Texas, and Michael "Greg" Coope r and Jessica Cooper, both of Clinton; and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Clinton with the Rev. Sam Dean and the Rev. Terry Baker officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton. The family requests any memorials be in the form of contributions to the First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 225 N. Rainey, 79, of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Dec. 28, 1924, in Petros, he was the son of George Henry and Rose Mary Daugherty Rainey. Mr. Rainey was a faithful member of Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from the Oak Ridge K-25 site as a sheet metal worker. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, who served his country in the 185th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister, Garvin Rainey, Albert Rainey, Willie Rainey, Marvin Rainey and Gladys Irene Rainey. Mr. Rainey is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bobbie Lee White Rainey; two daughters, Juanita Lamb and husband, Charles, of Harriman, and Nona Lee Rainey of Oliver Springs; two grandchildren, Charles A. Lamb III and wife, Kristi, of Harriman and Christopher B. Lamb and wife, Leah, of Rockwood; four great-grandchildren, Madison Lamb, Zachary Lamb, Hannah Lee Lamb and Alexia Lamb; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and special friends. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Marlow officiating. A graveside service will follow at the church cemetery with full military rites. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. Kenneth "Goard Kerr" Williams, 78, of Clinton, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Nashville. Mr. Williams was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evereth William and Clara McVey Williams, and by his wife, Francis Williams. Mr. Williams is survived by his son, Kenneth Gregory Williams and wife, Oma, of Cincinnati, Ohio; his daughter, Patricia Marie Taylor, of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by three grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. William Talmadge Young Sr. of Oak Ridge died Monday, June 21, 2004.
