From The Knoxville News Sentinel 15 Jun 2004 FERGUSON, DONALD LEA - age 68 of Clinton, GENTRY, JAMES C. - age 85 of Andersonville, formerly of Fountain City, JENNINGS, DONALD WAYNE - age 56, SHELBY, CHARLES FRANKLIN age 77, of Blacksferry Rd, Claxton Community, FERGUSON, DONALD LEA - age 68 of Clinton, passed away Monday, June 14, 2004 at Lake City Health Care Center. He was a member of Valley View United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by: wife, Rebecca Shirley Ferguson; parents, Asa & Myrtle Lea Ferguson; & son, Tom Ferguson. Survivors: daughters, Sharon & husband Dean Curry of Lake City, Kathy & husband Richard Gallagher or Mims, FL; sons, Donnie & wife Kathy Ferguson of Caryville, Robert Ferguson of Clinton; sister, Sue Wilson of Claxton; grandchildren, Brandy, Michael, Donna, Joey, Travis, Becky, Kayla & Dustin; great grandchildren, Chrissy, Sarah, Harley & Hannah. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at Holley- Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Rev. Pat Bishop officiating. GENTRY, JAMES C. - age 85 of Andersonville, formerly of Fountain City, passed away Sunday at Ft. Sanders Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Andersonville, Veteran US Army WWII, and a member of Brick Layers Union ####5. He is preceded in death by: father and mother, Cleve C. Gentry and Bonnie Stooksbery Gentry and brother Ray Gentry. Survived by: wife of 56 years, Gladys (Heath) Gentry; son and daughter-in-law, James V. and Sharon (Palmer) Gentry; grandchildren and spouses, Randy Gentry, Justin and Brady Gentry; great grandchildren, Kayla, Courtney, and Zachary; sisters, Jessie Beeler and Goneau Heath; sister-in-law, Marie Hall and brother-in-law, V. C. Heath; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 7:30 pm Tuesday evening at Gentry-Griffey Chapel with Rev. Terry Moore officiating. Family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery at 11:45 am Wednesday for a 12 noon Interment. Family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 pm Tuesday at Gentry-Griffey Chapel. JENNINGS, DONALD WAYNE - age 56, passed away at his home Sunday, June 13, 2004 at his residence. He was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church in Heiskell. Wayne retired after 23 years of service in the 278th Armored Calvary Regiment. He also retired after 32 years with ORNL. Preceded in death by: brother, Michael Lynn Jennings, daughter, Sandra Lee Kelly. Survivors: loving companion, Mary Little Jennings; parents, Roy & Lucille Jennings; dear grandchildren, Joshua & Reanne Kelly of Chapel Hill, TN; special aunts, Cleo & Maralyn Duncan; special cousins, Carolyn, Wes, & Shane Hill, Shawna, Justin & Darren Harness, Kathy & Wayne Arban of Ohio; many friends that he loved. SHELBY, CHARLES FRANKLIN age 77, of Blacksferry Rd, Claxton Community, Anderson County passed away Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center. Frank's life was different after the passing of his beloved wife, Louise. They spent 36 years together. Frank was preceded in death by: his parents, Floyd and Ollie Shelby; and sister Dorothy Prater. He is survived by: his brother Lawrence Shelby and wife Pat of Knoxville. Frank served in the Army and is one more of the World War II Veterans leaving us. Frank was a retired bricklayer and belonged to the Bricklayers Union ####5. Frank was content with the simple things in life and believed in values of honesty, hard work, and letting your word be your bond. When he was able, he loved working in his garden and flowers. Some of the people that will miss Frank are: Jason, Karrie, and Colby Moody, Ralph and Gail Myers, Larry and Karen Myers Sr. Larry Myers Jr., Kenneth Prater, Robert Prater, Jerry Moody, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 15, 2004 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 10:00am at Woodhaven Memory Gardens with full Military Honors.
