Friday June 11, 2004 Orbit from The News-Messenger......... Fremont, Ohio Sarah B. 'Toby' Shearer June 3, 1923 -- June 8, 2004 Sarah B. "Toby" Shearer, 81, 177 Nelson St., Clyde, died Tuesday at Bellevue Care Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Morley, Tenn., to A.B. and Carrie (Davis) Witt. She married Howard W. Shearer on Oct. 3, 1942, in Rossville, Ga., and he survives. Mrs. Shearer graduated from Jellico High School in Jellico, Tenn., and attended Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Ky. In her youth, she was an avid basketball player. She was employed by Doebel's Flowers in Clyde and later by Green Hills Golf Course, Clyde, and Olan Mills Photography. In later years, Mrs. Shearer worked at the Holiday Inn in Fremont as a hostess, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and shuffleboard. Also surviving are sons William (Yvonne) Shearer of Clyde and Ricky Shearer of Green Springs; daughters Sara Sue (Gary) Hollingsworth of Clyde and Teresa (Bruce) Durnwald of Vickery; and 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded by her parents, sister Madeline Burket, brother John Witt and sister Irene Witt. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today at Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde. Memorials: Misty Meadows for children, Fremont: Wheelchair access walks at the children's camp.
