From The Oak Ridger 15 Jun 2004 Donald Wayne Jennings, 56, Rommie R. Vann Sr. age 91, of the Joyner community Donald Wayne Jennings, 56, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at his residence. He was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church in Heiskell. Mr. Jennings retired after 23 years of service in the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment. He also retired after 32 years with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Lynn Jennings, and by his daughter, Sandra Lee Kelly. Mr. Jennings is survived by his loving companion, Mary Little Jennings; his parents, Roy and Lucille Jennings; his dear grandchildren, Joshua Kelly and Reanne Kelly, both of Chapel Hill; two special aunts, Cleo Duncan and Maralyn Duncan; eight special cousins, Carolyn Hill, Wes Hill, Shane Hill, Shawna Harness, Justin Harness, Darren Harness, Kathy Arban and Wayne Arban of Ohio; and by many friends that he loved. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Johnny Price and the Rev. Phillip Poe officiating. Burial will be at noon Wednesday, June 16, at Sartin Cemetery in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home Rommie R. Vann Sr. age 91, of the Joyner community in Morgan County, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Roane Medical Center in Harriman. Born Nov. 4, 1912, in Oliver Springs, he was the son of John and Dona Collins Vann. Mr. Vann was a longtime member of Beech Fork Holiness Church. He was a retired home builder, building homes in the surrounding area since 1945. In addition, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving his country during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Zell Marie Vann; a son, James Thomas Vann; and by two daughters, Dona Marie Vann and Doris June Portwood. Mr. Vann is survived by two sons, Rommie Vann Jr. and wife, Pat, and Donald Ray Vann and wife, Pat, all of the Joyner community; four daughters, Addie Lou Liles and husband, Pat, of Rockwood, Wanda Justice of LaFollette, Peggy Sexton of Stanford, Ky., and Dora Faye Vann of the Joyner community; several grandchildren; and by a host of extended family members and friends. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Beech Fork Holiness Church in Wartburg with the Rev. Herman Woods and the Rev. Jimmy Eason officiating. A graveside service will follow at Brasel Cemetery in Wartburg with grandsons serving as pallbearers. The body may be viewed from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
