From the Knoxville News sentinel 16 Jun 2004 GENTRY, JAMES C. - age 85 of Andersonville, formerly of Fountain City, HORTON, ERNESTINE SHANK 61, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Chattanooga, RHEA, EDGAR EUGENE - age 76, of Clinton GENTRY, JAMES C. - age 85 of Andersonville, formerly of Fountain City, passed away Sunday at Ft. Sanders Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Andersonville, Veteran US Army WWII, and a member of Brick Layers Union #5. He is preceded in death by: father and mother, Cleve C. Gentry and Bonnie Stooksbery Gentry and brother Ray Gentry. Survived by: wife of 56 years, Gladys (Heath) Gentry; son and daughter-in-law, James V. and Sharon (Palmer) Gentry; grandchildren and spouses, Randy Gentry, Justin and Brandy Gentry; great grandchildren, Kayla, Courtney, and Zachary; sisters, Jessie Beeler and Goneau Heath; sister-in-law, Marie Hall and brother-in-law, V. C. Heath; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 7:30 pm Tuesday evening at Gentry-Griffey Chapel with Rev. Terry Moore officiating. Family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery at 11:45 am Wednesday for a 12 noon Interment. Pallbearers: Randy Gentry, Justin Gentry, Bradley Bean, Jim Weddington, Ken Palmer and Frank Bruhin. Gentry-Griffey Chapel. HORTON, ERNESTINE SHANK 61, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Chattanooga, died Monday June 14th, 2004 at 9:00am in her home. Born on February 4th, 1943, she was the only daughter of John H. and Inez Shank of Chattanooga. She was a graduate of Howard High School where she was an honor student and graduated from Tuskegee Institute of Alabama in 1965 where she was on the Dean's List and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She went on to receive her Masters Degree from the University of Tennessee in 1989. She began her 39 years of teaching at Scarboro Elementary School, in 1973; spent a year teaching in Germany and then returned to Oak Ridge to teach at Jeffersonville Junior High School. She was preceded in death by: her grandparents; and her father John H. Shank. She is survived by: her mother, Inez Shank of Chattanooga; her son, Brian Horton of Knoxville; eleven cousins; a very special friend, Clarence Hinton; and three dear friends Delorise Barnes, Felicia Story, and Theresa Venable. In addition, she is also survived by several other dear friends, and an extended family at Jefferson Junior High School and the Oak Ridge City Schools. A memorial service will be held on Thursday June 17, 2004 1:00pm at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church 212 N Tulane Ave. Oak Ridge Tennessee with THE REV. Craig Kallio officiating. RHEA, EDGAR EUGENE - age 76, of Clinton passed away Thursday morning. He was a member of the Baptist Faith. Preceded in death by brothers Claude and Carl Rhea. Survived by sister Doris Beets and step-sister Ruth Warfield of Heiskell, TN.; several nieces and one nephew. Funeral service with full Military Honors by Volunteer State Honor Guard will be held at 11:30 am Thursday at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
