From The Knoxville News Sentinel 5 Aug 2004 CAYTON, TERRY DANNER - of Clinton, LEMONS, GERALD ROY - age 35, of Clinton, POGGIONE, LOIS - 102, former resident of Huntsville STANLEY, SHERMAN - formerly of Winfield, TN. CAYTON, TERRY DANNER - of Clinton, a good man and friend to so many, passed away on Tuesday, August 3rd after a long battle with cancer. He was an avid outdoorsman who fished the waters of Oregon, Washington, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, and Canada, but his favorite was the Clinch River. He was an honorary life member of the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, and Phi Beta Mu Honorary Bandmasters Fraternity. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. He was born on September 28, 1943 in Louisville, KY. During his youth he was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Carrolton, KY. He was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University in 1965. He began his music career as band director at Clay County High School in Manchester, KY. He moved to Oak Ridge in 1969 to become director of the Robertsville Junior High band. He later founded a successful fundraiser business. He was preceded in death by: his father, Philip Cayton; his mother, Fay Cayton; and his mother-in-law, Alice York. He is survived by: his wife, Mary Ann York Cayton; his sister, Patricia Abrams and her husband Harold Abrams; his father-in-law, Roscoe York; his brother- in-law, Jennings York; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton beginning at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 6th. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm with the Rev. Don Thomas officiating. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Thompson Cancer Survival Center in Knoxville. LEMONS, GERALD ROY - age 35, of Clinton, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 29, 2004. He was the general manager of Window Craft in Knoxville. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was an Ordained Minister of Southern Baptist Faith. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas He was an outstanding college student of America in 1992. Survivors: wfe, Deanna Lemons of Clinton; son, Ryan Lemons of Clinton; daughter, Bethany Lemons of Clinton; parents, Roy & Carol Lemons of Roanoke, Virginia; mother & father-in- law, Burgin & Pat Housley of Jacksboro; brother, Kevin & wife Amy Lemons of Basset, Virginia; sister, Leann Frith & husband Chuck of Rocky Mountain, Virginia; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends & family. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Funeral Services following in the Chapel with Rev. Mike Thompson, Rev. Elbert Kitts & Dr. Jerry Lowrie officiating. The burial will be 10:30 Thursday at Grandview Memorial Garden with full military honors at graveside. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of arrangements. POGGIONE, LOIS - 102, former resident of Huntsville passed away Tuesday at Farragut Nursing Home in Knoxville, TN. Mrs. Poggione was the child of the late Albert Haskell and Albie Schlegelmilch born in Huron County, MI. She was a former member of Whitesburg Garden Club and TROA (The Retired Officers Association). She married Joseph Poggione on August 15, 1937. She was preceded in death by husband Joseph and two sisters, Mildred Brooks and Irma Cline. Survivors include: nephew Darrell Cline and wife Erna of Michigan, great nephew and great niece, Brian and Susan Cline of Michigan. cousins; Helen Woolworth of Michigan, Julia Mitchell of Washington State and Tracy Courtney of Tennessee. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Huntsville Memory Gardens. Reverend J.B. Pendergraft officiating. Donation may be made to your favorite charity. STANLEY, SHERMAN - born October 14, 1923, died August 3, 2004, formerly of Winfield, TN. Retired from Air Force after 33 years, Veteran of WWII and Korean War. Preceded in death by: father, Benton Stanley; mother, S. Arlena Chambers Stanley; son, Stephen Stanley. Survived by: daughter, Shelly and Don Kwitkowski; granddaughter, Caitlin Kwitkowski; sister, Josephine Stanley Neilson; several half- brothers and sisters. Services Friday, 3:00pm at Brown Mortuary, Martinsburg, W.VA.
