From The Knoxville News Sentinel 9 Aug 2004 KING, GEORGIA MAE - MEFFORD, PASTOR DARRYL WAYNE - age 39 of LaFollette, KING, GEORGIA MAE - was born to the late Eithel and Christine Hurd on August 2, 1930 in Rienzi, Mississippi. Georgia and her husband William King made Oak Ridge, Tennessee their home for over 50 years. She departed this life on August 5, 2004. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. Her husband, William King, and her daughter, Georgia Marie King, preceded in her in death. Georgia loved working in her garden, growing and working with flowers, and enjoyed making ceramics and crafts. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She is survived by: her son, William E. King, Jr. (Barbara), Oak Ridge, Tennessee; daughter, Mae Jean King, Knoxville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Jeana and Wendy King, Lenoir City, Tennessee; two adopted grandchildren, Stephen and Sarah King, Lenoir City, Tennessee; former daughter-in-law, Wanda King, Lenoir City, Tennessee; four sisters, Mae Frances Stovall (Cornelius) and Ruby Brown of Chicago, Illinois, Gennie Thurman, Phoenix, Arizona, Bethel Hurd, Rienzi, Mississippi; one brother, Roosevelt Hurd, Detroit, Michigan; one sister-in-law, Annie Francis Franklin, East St. Louis, Illinois; 11 nieces and 12 nephews; and a host of relatives and friends; special friends include: Elizabeth Foster, Berthina Porter, Betty Jo Hawkins, Pearlie Mae Travis, Fannie Mae Ball, and Betty Furlong. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 195 Wilberforce Avenue, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The services will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will be at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
