From The Knoxville News Sentinel 6 Aug 2004 FREELS, VIRGINIA "TOOTSIE" HUCKEBY - age 61 HICKSON, EUGENE - age 89, of Clinton, FREELS, VIRGINIA "TOOTSIE" HUCKEBY - age 61 of Kingston passed away Wednesday August 4, 2004 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Preceded in death by her son Greg Huckeby and husband Sammy Huckeby. Survivors include: son and daughter in law: James "Huck" and Sally Huckeby; grandson: Kyler Huckeby all of Kingston; The family of Sammy Huckeby of Scott County; 4 sisters and her mother. Funeral 8 pm Friday August 6, 2004 in the Kyker Chapel. Burial 10 am Saturday in Mars Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society P. O. Box 82 Kingston, TN. 37763. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. He worked at White Store for 35 years and then as a guard at Modine for 20 years until retiring. He was preceded in death by: parents, John and Jennie Hickson; sister, Katherine Snellings; and brothers, Ernest, Earl and Fred Hickson son in law, Melvin (Tuck) Mustard. Survivors: wife of 67 years, Retta Mae Hickson; daughter, Barbara Mustard of Andersonville, TN; son, Dwayne Hickson and wife Marie of Clinton, TN; grandchildren, Lisa Weaver and husband Martin of Clinton, TN, Terrie Phillips and husband Darrell of Corryton, TN, Dwayne Hickson Jr. and wife Lisa of Knoxville, TN; great grandchildren, Samantha Shattuck, Taylor Shattuck, Aaron Hickson, Alex Hickson; sister, Alberta Wardlow of Springfield, Ill; brother, Alvin Hickson of Springfield, Ill; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 7, 2004 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the funeral service at 3:00 pm with Rev. George Williams and Rev. Don Jones officiating. The interment will be at Norris Memorial Garden following the funeral service.
