From The Oak Ridger 9 Aug 2004 \Herbert Cecil Dickinson, 89, Oak Ridge, born to Eithel and Christine Hurd on Aug. 2, 1930, Teresa Mae Kirkman, 67, of Oak Ridge, Monroe Seiber, 84, of Kingston, \Herbert Cecil Dickinson, 89, Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at NHC HealthCare Center. Born March 13, 1915, in Winfield, Ala., he was the son of Purvie Randolph and Olga Gladys Loden Dickinson. Mr. Dickinson retired from Union Carbide Corp. at the Y-12 Plant, where he worked as a machinist. He was a member of Heritage Fellowship Church and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and traveling. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Mae Clanahan Dickinson, on May 30, 1988. Mr. Dickinson is survived by two sons, Richard Dickinson, of Chicago, Ill., and Ron Dickinson and wife, Katey, of Oak Ridge; four brothers, Leon Dickinson and wife, Mayleen, of Albertville, Ala., Bruce Dickinson and wife, Polly, of Birmingham, Ala., Robert Dickinson and wife, Deana, Winfield, Ala., Owen Dickinson, Adrian, Mich., a sister, Lucille Nicholson, of Birmingham; two grandchildren, Kristi Dickinson of Knoxville and Aynsley Dickinson of Albuquerque, N.M. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Fred Garmon officiating. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to Heritage Fellowship Church, 121 N. Illinois Ave., Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. She was born to Eithel and Christine Hurd on Aug. 2, 1930, in Rienzi, Miss. She and her husband, William King, made Oak Ridge their home for over 50 years. She was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. According to her family, Mrs. King loved working in her garden, growing and working with flowers, and enjoyed making ceramics and crafts. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. Her husband and her daughter, Georgia Marie King, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, William E. King Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Oak Ridge; her daughter, Mae Jean King of Knoxville; two grandchildren, Jeana and Wendy King, both of Lenoir City; and two adopted grandchildren, Stephen and Sarah King, also both of Lenoir City. Mrs. King is also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Wanda King of Lenoir City; four sisters, Mae Frances Stovall and husband, Cornelius, and Ruby Brown, all of Chicago, Ill., Gennie Thurman of Phoenix, Ariz., Bethel Hurd of Rienzi, Miss.; a brother, Roosevelt Hurd of Detroit, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Annie Francis Franklin of East St. Louis, Ill.; 11 nieces and 12 nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Special friends include Elizabeth Foster, Berthina Porter, Betty Jo Hawkins, Pearlie Mae Travis, Fannie Mae Ball, and Betty Furlong. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 195 Wilberforce Ave. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Teresa Mae Kirkman, 67, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at St. Mary's Health System in Knoxville. Born Sept. 4, 1936, in Fresno, Calif., she was the daughter of Otto and Dora Schafstall. Mrs. Kirkman was actively involved in her church, the Oak Ridge Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. according to her family, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, her family, and spending time with her friends at the Oak Ridge Senior Center and her apartment complex. She and her family had lived in California, Alaska and Nevada. After retirement, she and her husband, Burrel Grant Kirkman, who died Jan. 4, 2002, traveled extensively throughout the United States. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Palmer. Mrs. Kirkman is survived by her three children, Kenneth Michael Kirkman and his wife, Debra, of Oceanside, Calif., Michele Renee“ Kirkman of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Sheri Ann Watkins and her husband, Charles, of Oak Ridge; and by her three grandchildren, Christopher Earl Kirkman, Jennifer Therese Kirkman and Jared Grant Kirkman Watkins. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at the Oak Ridge Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 140 S. Jefferson Circle. The family will receive friends at 6:30 p.m. at the church. A private burial will be at Hester Cemetery in Harriman. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Boy Scout Troop 320, 917 West Outer Drive, or the Senior Center, 728 Emory Valley Road, both Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Monroe Seiber, 84, of Kingston, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Dec. 28, 1919, in New River, he was the son of Daniel and Sally Riggs Seiber. He moved with his family to Oliver Springs in 1952, to Oakdale in 1978, and then to Kingston in 1993. Mr. Seiber had worked as a coal miner and been employed at several area coal mines. He also worked for the Oak Ridge school system as a custodian for many years. He received a certificate of appreciation for working on the Manhattan Project in 1945. According to his family, he loved singing old gospel songs and enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida. He was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Seiber, a sister, Josephine Bunch, and by a grandson, Eddie Andrews. Mr. Seiber is survived by his wife, Daffie Phillips Seiber; daughters, Udena Guy and husband, Bobby, of Harriman, Frankie Sue Andrews and husband, Gary, of Oliver Springs; and sons, Billy Seiber and wife, Gail, of Harriman, and David Seiber of Kingston. He is also survived by eight Marcella Russell, Robin Guy, Cindy Elmore, Joey Andrews, Steven Andrews, Craig Seiber, Kim Webb and Amy Lawlar; 11 great-grandchildren, Amanda Russell, Allen Russell, Brittany Elmore, Robbie Beck, Jonathan Andrews, Jacob Andrews, Dustin Andrews, Courtney Andrews, Madison Seiber, Harrison Seiber and Hunter Webb; five sisters and a brother, Viola Seiber of Lake City, Coralee Duncan of LaFollette, and Pauline Daugherty, Dolena Carroll, Ardelie Leigh and Dewitt Seiber, all of Oliver Springs; and by nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and extended family members. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care extended to Mr. Seiber from the 4-West staff at Methodist Medical Center, the East Tennessee Pulmonary Associates Group, and special thanks to Dr. Richard Parrish for all the years of excellent care. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Ralph Wilson and the Rev. Archie Seiber officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Kingston Memorial Gardens.
