From The Oak Ridger 24 Aug 2004 Grace McLin Ditchen, 88, of Oak Ridge, April Janine Foster, 38, of Knoxville, Kenneth Eugene Garner, 44, of Harriman, Rosella Patterson Harris, 70, of Coalfield, Dr. Christopher "Chris" Hebb, 52, of West Knoxville, Neva Mae Patterson, 82, of Clinton, Grace McLin Ditchen, 88, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Nov. 1, 1915, in Powell community, she was the daughter of Alvin E. and Daisy Crawford McLin. She graduated in 1934 from Knoxville High School, where she was valedictorian. During the course of her career as a secretary and office manager, she worked with the J. E. Lutz & Co; Tennessee Valley Authority; the Community Disposition Program in Oak Ridge; Oak Ridge National Laboratory; UT Comparative Animal Research Laboratory and Rural Legal Services, from which she retired in 1984 after serving as office manger for five years. She was a member of Robertsville Baptist Church, the Oak Ridge Women's Club and the '43 Club. She was a former active member of the Oak Ridge Chapter of Professional Secretaries International for 27 years. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, reading, knitting and crocheting. After her retirement, she was also active in Body Recall and a water exercise class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Harold W. Ditchen in August 1984 and by sister, Alice McLin Chesney in July 1970. Mrs. Ditchen is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Cobb Kimbrell of Newark, Ohio; her sons, Robert Linah Cobb of Cape Charles, Va., and William Gordon Cobb of Herndon, Va.; five grandchildren, James Walton Kimbrell, Deborah Cobb Manley, Robert G. Cobb, Sharon Cobb Eberly and Brian L. Cobb; 10 grandchildren and nephews, Thomas W. Chesney of Knoxville and Ronald G. Chesney of St. Petersburg, Fla. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with Dr. Michael Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. April Janine Foster, 38, of Knoxville, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. Born December 17, 1965, in Bremen, Ga., she was the daughter of Diana Foster, of Knoxville, and Dr. Don Foster, of Clinton. She was a former employee at Levi's in Knoxville. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Les Foster, of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Leann Bunch and husband, Toby, of Clinton; and a niece, Ashley Bunch, of Clinton. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Jimmy Orick officiating. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 27 at Woodhaven Memorial Garden in Powell.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Kenneth Eugene Garner, 44, of Harriman, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at the Roane Medical Center. Born Feb. 4, 1960, in Pekin, Ill., he was the son of Kenneth Eugene Garner, now deceased, and Helen E. Morrison Garner, of San Jose, Ill. He lived in San Jose most of his life, moving to Harriman four years ago. He attended Clax Gap Baptist Church in Harriman. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Garner. He is survived by his son, Keith A. Garner, of San Jose; a daughter, Susan Henderson and husband, Kevin, of Harriman; his mother; two brothers, Warren Garner, of San Jose, and Kevin Garner and his wife, Jean, of Springfield, Ill.; a sister, Karen Watkins and husband, Mike, of Carlinville, Ill.; a stepbrother, Steve Garner, of Arizona; a stepsister, Kathy Radar and husband, Jim, of Pekin; and several nieces and nephews. The burial service will be held at Green Hill Cemetery in San Jose. Sharp Funeral Home of Oliver Springs is in charge of arrangements. Rosella Patterson Harris, 70, of Coalfield, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at her home. Born June 24, 1934, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of Foster and Mary Phillips Patterson. She had lived in either Anderson, Roane or Morgan counties all of her life. She was an active member of Middle Creek Baptist Church and a retired bus driver with over 30 years of driving for the Morgan, Anderson and Roane counties' school systems. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven R. Harris, a grandson, Steven Randy Harris, and a brother and sister, Kenneth Patterson and Louise Patterson Phillips. Mrs. Harris is survived by two sons, Mike Harris and wife, Lynneanne, and Ron Harris, all of Coalfield; three grandchildren, Shawn Harris, Valarie Kirby and John Adam Harris; and two great-grandchildren, Sidney Kirby and John Harris. She is also survived by a sister, Helen Provence and husband, Jim, of Knoxville; and by a sister-in-law, Coleen Patterson, of Knoxville. Louise Crowe, Mac Fritts, Virginia Crabtree, her Middle Creek Baptist Church family, and the Ladies of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church are considered special friends. The family would like to extend a special appreciation to Covenant Hospice and especially to JoAnn and Hospice chaplain, John Shaw. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Ronald Guthrie and the Rev. Mike Beech officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Liberty Cemetery in Wartburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Dr. Christopher "Chris" Hebb, 52, of West Knoxville, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville after a brief illness. He was chief psychologist at Ridgeview Hospital in Oak Ridge. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he received his doctorate in clinical psychology. Dr. Hebb is survived by his wife, Barbara House Hebb; a stepson, Michael O'Bryant, United States Marine Corps, Hawaii; his parents, Douglas and Janice Hebb of Ashburnham, Mass.; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Laurie and Al Hill of Florida, Tracey and Brian Wessels of Massachusetts; a brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Myong Hebb of Colorado; his father- and mother-in-law, John C. "Jack" and Susan House of Maine; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. John C. and Cynthia House of Knoxville; and by several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Dr. John C. House III officiating. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Cleo Bunch Patterson, and brother, Earl Patterson. Miss Patterson is survived by a sister, June Patterson of Clinton; a brother, Burl Patterson and wife, Carol, of Clinton; a niece, Kimberly Ward and husband, Eric, and sons, Christopher and Jonathan; and a nephew, Kevin Patterson and son, Kevin Quinn Patterson.
